Anybody remember this? No? Just me then. I managed to raid and catch Latios yesterday.

New thread, all are welcome.

SneakyGremlins I’d say it’s not great loss then, as 86% is still quite low. Least it wasn’t 100%!

DoctorTwo · 14/06/2018 19:36

I won't be too fussed if I don't get a shiny Larvitar, as long as I get a couple of 100%ers to add to my 2 96%ers and my 2 96% T'tars.

I need to read up on how to use TMs and which movesets are best for which of my battlers/raiders.

My 100% Tyrannitar is lonely! He’s friends with his 96%, 93% and 91% counterparts, but would like to meet his match in another 100%er Grin

Hi catchyjem! I'm in the same boat, playing again for the last few months for the first time in a year. I live in a remote village so struggle with raids etc as I can only raid solo. Only just got to Level 30 so am still building up a fighting team... Have learnt a lot from all of you though! Flowers to all of the more experienced players for sharing your knowledge!

Excitingly, on Community day I happen to be in London for the first time in years, and even better will have three hours free between 11am and 2pm... Almost perfect! Could someone help me understand the etiquette around joining in group raids? I would really love to do some level 3/4/5s while I'm in and around Euston... How do those of you who raid in groups find the groups?! I am a bit clueless, and don't want to start randomly stalking people around gyms!!

MonaChopsis Your best bet is to use Facebook to see if there’s a Pokémon group in that area. A lot of groups use WhatsApp as their main form of communication but have a Facebook page too. There’s also Discord.

What a lot of people do though is just hang around and wait for people to turn up. You can jump in the raid with them and ask if they’re in any raid groups Smile

Last summer when raiding first came out, that’s how a lot of groups were formed: people just standing by gyms and waiting for others to turn up. Then the group grows from there!

MonaChopsis · 14/06/2018 20:18

Thanks, What. Will search on Facebook for any London Euston based groups. What is Discord??

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/06/2018 20:22

MonaChopsis There’ll be loads in London so you shouldn’t have any issues.

Discord is similar to WhatsApp, but specifically designed for gaming communities. Our group doesn’t use it so I don’t know the ins and outs of it, though.

OrianaBanana · 14/06/2018 20:33

I’ve never seen a single shiny. Is that normal?!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 14/06/2018 20:48

OrianaBanana Outside of community days they are exceptionally rare.

In community days your chance is roughly 1/22, so if you don’t play for a good chunk of the three hours you can easily not get one.

rainingcatsanddog · 14/06/2018 21:30

In London, head for a raid that is about to hatch and people will be waiting or join you pretty quickly. Then find out where the raid group is going next and follow them.

soupforbrains · 14/06/2018 23:19

@MonaChopsis Discord could be really helpful for you. I'm not sure about Facebook groups in London but my guess is that there are hundreds of different ones by geographic area.

There is a London discord group where you can add yourself to specific areas of interest to you and coordinate raiding through there. I only use it when I visit London as I don't actually live there but it's been really good for me.

PickAChew · 15/06/2018 10:03

Anyone noticed a "glut" of dragon scales with this event? I've picked up 3 from normal, non-streak spins in the past week.

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 15/06/2018 10:09

Can’t say I’ve noticed, I got a steel coat I think. There’s a drop rate of approx 1 in 100 for normal spins, have you been visiting a lot of stops?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 15/06/2018 10:34

No, I haven’t had any Evolution items from stops recently (thankfully as I only keep 4 if each and delete the rest!).

SneakyGremlins · 15/06/2018 14:58

Look what someone has at the blue gym! ShockEnvy

PickAChew · 15/06/2018 15:28

Not as many as usual, if anything, takeachansey. Clearly just a weird coincidence.

Wailord looks like it's spent too long in the sun :o.

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 15/06/2018 15:56

I have a shiny wailmer. Grin Aiming to have 800 candies by the end of the water event so I can evolve it and a high IV one.

SneakyGremlins · 15/06/2018 16:24

Do shinies evolve into shinies?

rainingcatsanddog · 15/06/2018 16:25

Yes. Shiny Magicaro becomes Shiny Gyarados etc

Eggzandbacon · 15/06/2018 16:28

I have to spend tonight clearing out Pokemon in preparation for tomorrow - can’t decide where to go. I went to the cemetery last time and it was really busy!

SneakyGremlins · 15/06/2018 16:35

Were people dying to get in? Grin

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 15/06/2018 17:05

Do shinies evolve into shinies?

SneakyGremlins Of course! It would be a bit shit if they didn’t Grin

However, a shiny Pokemon’s first form colour isn’t always the same as the second or third form colours.

For example, shiny Charmander is a pale yellow, but shiny Charizard is black.

Similarly, shiny Magikarp is yellow/gold, but shiny Gyarados is red.

Shiny Dratini and shiny Dragonair are pink, but shiny Dragonite is green.

But of course you do get Shiny Pokémon where the colour is the same in both or all evolutions eg. shiny Wailmer and Wailord are both purple, shiny Mareep, Flaaffy and Ampharos are all pink, shiny Swablu and Altaria are both yellow/gold etc.

Whatever it’s evolution colour changes, all shiny forms stay shiny once evolved Smile

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 15/06/2018 18:45

Shiny Cloister isn’t as cool as shiny shellder. Sad Hoping I’ll catch another one so I can keep the shellder!

DoctorTwo · 15/06/2018 19:55

Hi @MonaChopsis the etiquette for raiding is easy. You notice a 4 or 5* raid is starting and walk to the gym. If there are a bunch of people hanging around looking at their phones head up to them and ask "are you here for the raid?" I've done this a few times and have always been made welcome because PoGo players are in the main nice people. As can be seen in these threads, there's hardly any snark. We might be on different teams but here, as irl, advice is given with no regard to your 'team'.

Thanks soup and Doctor. I found the Discord group, I'm going to head for Regent's Park, unfortunately because of Taste of London there's not an official event there, but I'm hoping it will be busy anyway! It'll be a whole lot busier than my normal village anyway (one gym, three pokestops kind of place!!)
