Anybody remember this? No? Just me then. I managed to raid and catch Latios yesterday.

New thread, all are welcome.

Exactly 1000CP? Shock

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 09/06/2018 13:30

I’m away for the weekend so hoping to make the most of this event! If only the extra XP for new Pokestops was ongoing.

Is anyone finding that a lot of the water Pokemon are very low IV? I’m level 32.

SneakyGremlins · 09/06/2018 13:38

Just done a three star difficulty raid - suggested group size thirteen - just me and my friend! Grin

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 09/06/2018 13:47

Yes I’ve soloed level 1 and 2 raids no problem. I think it suggests 7 players for a magikarp raid? Confused

SneakyGremlins · 09/06/2018 13:58

It suggested five yesterday for a magikarp raid. Said magikarp had 1153 CP. My snorlax has double that Grin

PickAChew · 09/06/2018 14:27

Yes, sneaky. My 3rd this week.

Have you got a Jolteon? That’ll take it down in 2 hits or less!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 09/06/2018 14:52

Brilliant, I shall now sit and appraise all my Pokemon. Smile

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/06/2018 14:55

The suggested raid sizes are completely off. You can easily solo Level 1 and Level 2 Raids, and high level players who know how to use types and movesets to their advantage have little difficulty soloing Level 3 Raids.

It suggested five yesterday for a magikarp raid. Said magikarp had 1153 CP. My snorlax has double that

SneakyGremlins Magikarp has a max CP of 220, so I’m assuming you mean 153 Grin And I would be very worried if your Snorlax didn’t have double 153!

However, Snorlax is a defense Pokemon, not an attack one, so isn’t suited and shouldn’t be used for battling with.

PickAChew · 09/06/2018 15:01

Sneaky is talking about the fish they battled in the raid, not the one they caught.

And I use all sorts of stupid stuff for tier 1 raids :o

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/06/2018 15:03

PickAChew Ahh, course! That makes sense now Grin

Murinae · 09/06/2018 16:06

I can do level three raids alone with no problem but I’m level 39 and unusually google the best counters before I do one as I can never remember the different ones.

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 09/06/2018 16:07

Shiny! Grin

Jealous Envy

PickAChew · 09/06/2018 16:49

I soloed a pinsir raid just in the nick of time, the other day. All those lizards came into their own!

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 09/06/2018 17:17

@Murinae

I didn’t get any shinies in the rock or fighting event despite catching loads!

SneakyGremlins · 09/06/2018 18:15

Snorlax might be a defence Pokémon but it's my best one by 300CP or so!

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 09/06/2018 18:17

I am jealous of your Snorlax. Envy It was one of my favourites back in the day of Pokemon Red/Blue but I still don’t have one. Angry

SneakyGremlins · 09/06/2018 18:23

I keep getting them from 10K eggs!

It has 2238 CP and my next powerful one is Jolteon at 1941.

I only ever have one of each Pokémon, if I get another I transfer the lower CP one Blush

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/06/2018 18:28

SneakyGremlins High CP isn’t an indicator of how good it is; if a Pokemon has high CP but low IVs the CP will only get it so far.

Presumably you’ll have hatched Snorlax so it will be Level 20 and the IVs won’t be too terrible, but it is still a defence Pokemon and not an attack one.

If you have any legendary Pokemon, they will be much better to battle with than Snorlax despite being a lower CP unless you’ve powered them up (of which I strongly recommend you do power up your highest IV legendaries).

Since Magikarp are weak to electric and grass, and I’m assuming you got at least one Zapdos as a reward during the recent research reward tasks, you would be good using Zapdos (and again, I’d definitely recommend powering up your best IV one).

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/06/2018 18:31

It has 2238 CP and my next powerful one is Jolteon at 1941.

SneakyGremlins Jolteon is a much better choice in a Magikarp raid due to Magikarp benig weak against electric.

I only ever have one of each Pokémon, if I get another I transfer the lower CP one

But the lower CP one might have better IVs, and IVs are much more important than CP. There are also a lot of Pokémon you want to have more than one of: Snorlax and Blissey for defending gyms, and lots of Tyrannitars, Dragonite, Gyarados etc. for attacking.

SneakyGremlins · 09/06/2018 18:35

I don't use snorlax for raids! I do use Jolteon and Zapdos for those. I use my Armaldo and Omastar for battling in gyms then use the Snorlax to defend them! I also check IVs before transferring, don't worry.

Finally reached level 24 earlier Grin

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/06/2018 18:42

SneakyGremlins Congrats on reaching Level 24! Smile

When battling and raiding, it definitely helps to tailor the Pokemon you’re attacking with; take into account the Pokemon you want to take down’s type and use their weaknesses against them.

That way it doesn’t take as long and you go through a lot less potions and revives.

Of course, as you level up and collect better and better Pokémon, this will be easier Grin

SneakyGremlins · 09/06/2018 18:52

Can't wait Grin I've noticed I'm finally catching 600-1000 CP Pokémon in the wild except for that cp62 wailmer earlier

SneakyGremlins · 09/06/2018 18:53

I've gained 43 magikarp candy today. Glad I can access two gyms and a pokestop from inside my flat!
