I’ve been waiting over a month now for a ditto. Thing is I don’t think I’ve caught one for over a year now anyway - it’s really spoiling the game for me.

Does anyone know if the special items you get from doing a 7-day pokestop streak are completely random, or if there's any other element to it?

I've been playing since July 2016 and I've never seen a shiny.

eurochick Are you a casual/sporadic player? What about community days - surely you’ve got at least one shiny from one of those days?

But if you only log in every couple of days or so or don’t play the full three hours on community days it isn’t too surprising as they’re so rare.

Anyone know what's going on today? I haven't been able to get into the game since mid-morning.

Do you have a PTC Account? Because they’re always down! Google ones rarely are as they’re on different servers.

I have a google account. I still can't get in. It was fine this morning.

I've played pretty much every day since the game started. I'm about to level up to 35. My Gen 1 and 2 Dexes are pretty much complete. So I wouldn't consider myself a sporadic player. But no shinies. I have only played one community day though. The others have clashed with business travel or family events, so maybe that's it.

Does anyone know if the special items you get from doing a 7-day pokestop streak are completely random, or if there's any other element to it? I've been needing Kings Rocks for ages (have a Poliwhirl and a Slowpoke all candied up and ready to be evolved) and nada, but have found about six Sun Stones over the past couple of months.

I think it's completely random.

I caught a shiny Dratini during the Community Day whilst sat on the loo at work

So many kabuto, lileep, geodudes and omanytes! No shinies yet though, and not many more than 80% IV. Hardly any of anything else - I'm sure I will get bored by the end and yearn for some pidgies. 2100XP for new pokestops - brilliant! Did spur me on to find some within walking distance and really saw my total zoom up today, yay, within touching distance of level 30 at last :)

I also play all day, every day but I have 31 shinies; 7 of which were outside the community day events.

In other good news, I have completed Gen III!

Gen I and Gen II were completed a while ago so it’s good to finally complete Gen III

The only Pokemon I’m missing now are regionals not yet released in the UK and Pokemon not yet released in the game. So yay!

Took the bus down to Saltburn and gained 200,000XP obliterating white rings, today. I did waste half of a lucky egg walking into a mobile signal shadow, mind!

I can think of a few more areas with white rings that we shall have to visit, over half term. We'll get good use out of ds2's bus pass :o

I'm excited for the Alolan forms of Kanto Pokémon to be added to the game, mainly because I love the Alolan Vulpix so much.

I'll be interested to see what you have to do to evolve Cubone into the Alolan Marowak, too.

I’ve wanted an aerodactyl for ages, caught my first one today and it’s a shiny!

I play every day too and it took me ages to get my first shiny - Shuppet. I've now got Makuhita in the last event.
I know people that play less that have loads. It's just luck. Or I hope it is otherwise the game hates me

This Adventure Week couldn't have been more perfect timing!

I'm in London for the weekend and, according to my Fitbit, walked some 22000 steps yesterday, most of it with Pokemon Go running. I've no idea how many new stops I spun but my XP has gone through the roof and I'm whizzing through level 33. Only slightly disappointing thing is relatively how few Raids I've seen (or yellow gyms with free spaces).

SneakyGremlins You can check IVs before you evolve

A good indicator is the in game appraisal; if it’s a wonder (Mystic/blue), simply amazes me (Valor/red) or battle with the best of them (Instinct/yellow), you want to keep and IV check, then throw away if not good enough (for me, anything below 90% is not good enough).

Any other appraisal is just not worth it, because even wonder Pokémon can be too low (they range from 82% to 100%).

I've gone from having no Aerodactyls to four Aerdactyls today! One from a raid and three from research tasks.

I've installed Pokegenie and most of my good mons are still good mons. Not sure if it's taking away some enjoyment of the game though.

I've always achieved everything I've ever wanted with the mons I have, now I feel like I'm making it less likely to be happy.

I have enough candy to evolve a Slakoth, and two amazes (valor) but their not amazing IV so I'm holding of till whenever I get a better one which makes me a bit sad. Last week I would have just evolved and been chuffed.

I will evolve good rather than best Pokémon if they aren't the most useful but are common enough that I could have evolved 3 or 4 in my wait for the near perfect specimen, eg jigglypuff.

I don't even look at appraisals for vermin unless they're exceptionally high cp eg a pidgey as a candidate for my best pigeot. I don't even do that with Aron. I just evolve it once and I've transferred out all of my aggrons except for one, which I've left for dead for being utterly useless and a pita when I want to raid.

Aggrons are great big babies aren't they. they look sooooo cool but are rubbish.

They're lazier than slaking!

I defeated a gym earlier while waiting in the Chinese for dinner

I have done next to no Moning since this time yesterday when a morsel of food got stuck in my gullet, meaning I can't swallow. So every time I salivate I have to spit, meaning I needed to be near something to spit into. All I've been able to do is gargle water to keep my mouth and throat damp. I'm exhausted, my head hurts, and I'm dehydrated.
