Presumably you can use the run away symbol in the top left of the screen to quit the encounter if you really want to.

It is an odd thing to do though. Balls are easily replenished!

If you run away from a reward encounter it just saves it for later, I've done it a load of times so I can catch something when I'm inside out of the rain.

I'm hoping they change Moltres soon too. Have slowed down on my field research this week as I know it will be another Moltres. Special research is taking me ages. Stuck on having done 4 raids out of 10 as I don't normally do raids. Think I'm going to have to use some premium passes rather than relying on the one a day normal ones.

Sadly balls aren’t easily replenished in my tiny town. As a comparison, my other half works a lot in London and always has hundreds of balls, just from walking to and from his office, I have almost never had more than 100!

Raids are usually pointless here too as there are hardly any other players to team up with. I’m happy just filling my Pokédex, once I’ve got it I don’t care how good it is!

Oh that does make it tricky twodrinkswithlunch. I have to go somewhere for work now and again that only has a few pokestops and I get really low on balls while I am there.

I don't know what to suggest in that case. If DH plays is he any good at throwing? Could he catch it for you just to get rid of it?

If you are anywhere near me I'd offer to do it for you

twodrinkswithlunch Are you using berries to increase the catch rate (Golden razzberries are best if you have them)?

I had a great day today. I caught a Latias, had a mooch and pints with a friend, caught Mew and levelled up to 36. Colour me happy. :o

TwoDrinks, it's the same where I stay, poke stops are few and far between, I would have to sit next to one and spin it every 5 mins for a good few hours to replenish pokeballs. I have bought some a few times for that reason.

A giant bear (ursateddy or something) spawned and despite raspberries, curve balls and four ultra balls, it still ran away. Then the evolved form of Spinarak, same story. Unsuccessful day. Caught a machoke but terrible IV's.

I'm struggling for balls at the moment too. I'm a freelancer so really depends where I'm based. Even though commuting into London is a pain it is nice to fill up my bag when I have a client there!

Third moltres in the bag. It's the only one that hasn't put any resistance up today. Even a cp10 pidgey gave me hassle.

Similar for me, only a few pokestops nearby so have to limit playing sometimes to when I'm in town centre only. Had a lucky few needed visits to London over the time I was doing the special research which really helped replenish my stocks. Not sure I'd have completed it without them though.

Raids will take a while. I don't spend money on the game so it will have to be one a day if I can.

All my pokeballs mysteriously disappeared. But my bag was full of random Pokémon. I thought this might be something to do with my DS (6) who’d been out in the garden at the same time my phone had gone walking but he denied all knowledge and said ‘chill out mummy it’s only a game’ :-)

We have an ex-raid today will see what it’s like.

BouleBaker Shiny Magikarp is yellow/gold, not red, but when it evolves it does turn into a red Gyarados

Found Ditto now to power through the rest of the task hopefully in time

Can anyone advise how to throw curveballs? For the tasks, I need to throw 3x great curveballs & 2x nice curveballs (in a row). I've no idea how to throw a curveball at all!

Wish I had advice on curveballs. I suck. Just had the opportunity to catch mewtoo on an ex raid but couldn’t do it.

It was fun though loads of people there

I've been given a more successful tip on curveballs today. I had been spinning them from the corner then arching the throw which missed a fair bit. I'm now starting with the spin in the bottom left corner in the same way, but flicking up straight on a diagonal which has had a much better hit rate. I've managed lots of nice curveballs today, and an excellent which is premature as I'm halfway through chugging through the 10 raids.

I'm lucky that the local pokestops are mainly concentrated in a 1k loop around the woods nearby. Running a few laps around there with the go plus on pokestops only fills up the bag rapidly!
I struggle to do it when the kids aren't in school though.

iHeartRadio, if you're missing the very basics of throwing a curve ball, you need to get it spinning so sparks fly.

I'm loving these earth day event spawns! I usually getbobly the very occasional pidgey in my house but I've had 3 poliwag, 2 wailmer a phanpy, 2 seedot and a Carvanha on the last 20 mins. And all triple stardust. Hurrah!

For curve balls, I usually spin the ball in the left corner of the screen, in circles from the corner to the center of the Pokemon's feet. When the capture circle is where I want it to be, I release the ball about two thirds of the way to the Pokemon's feet. Works almost every time, regardless of Pokémon distance. If you release too soon it doesn't curve enough to, too late and it curves too much.

When I was trying to do the excellent curveball for the Mew tasks, it was taking me four or five curveball attempts just to hit the pokemon. It did pay off though as I got an excellent within half an hour of doing that for the 50 berries task, which got that one out of the way much earlier on than I'd expected.
