Will need to save raspberries and ultra balls for a Mandy day. They're a real pain to catch. Worth it for a shiny charizard!

Having just finished walking charmander to get enough candies, I’m glad I didn’t evolve the one I have. Hopefully can catch a better one and a shiny. Beginning to wonder if I should stat filling my Dex from the bottom to the top though.

I'm just really hoping squirtle will be soon so I can get a shiny of my namesake :)

hi got our Mew today and DS is thrilled - follows particularly poor catching on the community day - no shines and missed catching on 3 raids - i among redeemed though

The catching of new confirmed my hunch that many of the field and special tasks were designed to improve catching skills. No better balls or great shot options made a curve ball the only way of doing it faster.

My enjoyment of the game improved a lot when I got the hang of curve balls. It was my first ex-raid at the beginning of the year that pushed me to practice. The catch rate is a lot better and since then I waste a lot less balls and get places a whole lot quicker since I don't have to keep stopping to re-throw . And also I now have a pretty decent catch rate for legendaries.

My Mew catching was comical. I had deliberately avoided spoilers, so I had no idea what was going to happen. I was stumbling around my kitchen with my phone in one hand trying to keep it in view (that wasn't easy) while fishing around for my laptop with the other hand to Google 'how do I get out of AR and can I change to an ultra ball'. Thankfully google was re-assuring!!

I don't mind this Gen 1 event. I'm using it to complete a few holes that I still had in my Gen 1 Gender Dex.

I've evolved a few purely for gender. There were a lot of holes because of the way that gender was assigned when it was added to the game.

yeah the stupid fact that the dex didn't register ones you'd already caught regardless :( that's exactly the gaps I'm filling in now too @PickAChew

Whenever I go out normally there are raids going on everywhere. Now I need to battle in 10 of them they are few and far between

In the meantime I'm practicing curve balls in anticipation for needing an excellent one. So far I've managed a couple of greats. Eek.

Dobby1sAFreeElf Well, your PokeDex just says which genders you’ve had.

If you look in the two pictures, in one I’ve had a male and female of both (and this is also where it shows if you’ve had a shiny, so I’ve had male and female Shiny Dratinis) but in the other I’ve only had female Absols (not bothered much with them really).

There are videos on YouTube explaining how to do excellent curve balls. That task took me bloody ages and I did it once I stopped consciously trying to complete the task.

Mew and MewTwo are non-binary.

A small correction on the shiny genders, once you get one shiny it unlocks both genders for the shiny - I've only had one shiny swablu and have both genders in my dex.

jaimelannistersgoldenhand So are most Legendaries. Latias is the only gendered one in Pokemon Go so far (female).

Has anyone else found any funny little things the pokemon do when you go through the pokedex? If you turn croconaw round he does a very cute little bum wiggle! Makes me giggle anyway. I really must get out more...

bettytaghetti Each Pokemon has an idle animation (one they do eventually if you watch them without touching them for a while), and an animation they do when you click on them.

WhatToDo I can't find any others with such a cute bum wiggle though!

bettytaghetti My favourite is the animation Ludicolo does when you click on him He shakes his thang! And he tips his hat as his idle animation.

@Dobby1sAFreeElf also, the evolve button when you look at a pokemon will still show a shadow if you haven't had the evolved form in that gender.

e.g. If you have only got a female Venusaur, then the evolve button on a male Ivysaur will show just the shadow, whereas on a female Ivysaur it will show the colour image.

Female only include;
Nidoran (F) and evos; Chansey and Blissey; Kangaskhan;
Smoochum and Jynx; Miltank and Latias

plus then you have Unown whose many forms display in the dex in the same way as genders.

Caught a ditto this morning! Then came to work and caught one in my colleagues phone! Both rubbish but Pokédex fill.
