Salutations, if you're struggling for accuracy, go for Mon like ponyta which have a big circles, hold the ball and wait for the circle tho get down to about 2/3 of its diameter before firing your ball into the circle.

PickAChew · 12/04/2018 16:45

Salutations? How terribly formal. The above post was meant for sakura

SakuraSunrise · 12/04/2018 16:55

Thanks @PickAChew that seems to help, a slowbro just appeared in my house and I tried throwing when the circle was at 2/3 and got a great throw, although it then fled, but my task counted the great throw, just 8 more to go!

GreenShadow · 12/04/2018 17:24

Murinae - you're certainly not the only WI PoGo playing member!

Our meeting venue has just become a Stop - only I'm far too embarrassed to get my phone out and spin during the meeting (I manage a couple of spins at start and finish but such a wasted opportunity!)

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 12/04/2018 18:51

You need a Gotcha or Pogo+. They spin stops and catch Pokémon automatically.

Murinae · 12/04/2018 19:09

Yes I have a Go-tcha and it’s great especially as I have a Pokestop at my desk at work so I turn it on and let it do it’s own thing.

GreenShadow · 12/04/2018 19:42

Tempting....(Go-tcha) as long as it doesn't automatically catch all pokemon going as I don't live/work that near a Pokestop so tend to run out of balls - I can imagine it would just use them all until they ruin out!

Murinae · 12/04/2018 19:44

It only uses red ones

Murinae · 12/04/2018 19:44

And you can turn it to just spinning stops or just catching or both

CollyWombles · 12/04/2018 19:57

Hi all, total newbie to Pokemon go. Seemed like a good idea as I walk the dog each day! When I was a teenager I watched Pokemon, it had only just come out, so we are talking Ash, Misty, Brock. There are these new Pokemon and I'm overwhelmed!

What ones should I power up? How do I know if they are any good? What if I'm powering one up then I catch the same Pokemon but with a higher CP? Do I switch to that one??

Help me!

CollyWombles · 12/04/2018 20:05

I caught this guy at the park, is he any good?

I suggest you save your stardust and don't power up until you reach at least level 20. It won't take long to get there. By then you'll have a few level 20 hatches behind you and hatched pokies are usually better than caught ones.

CollyWombles These are very complex questions with long, complex answers!

CP isn’t the be all and end all, IVs are extremely important too. I only power up Pokemon with 90%+ IVs. To check a Pokemon’s IV download the app PokeGenie and put in the appraisal.

Powering up uses up stardust, which is a resource that takes a very long time to get, so you want to make sure you’re not wasting it.

Good Pokemon worth powering up include:
• All legendary Pokemon
• Gyarados
• Dragonite
• Tyrannitar
• Aggron
• Machamp

Zangoose is useless. It doesn’t ever evolve, doesn’t have high CP and is normal type.

PickAChew · 12/04/2018 20:21

Just to add, the higher level you are, the higher level Pokémon you can catch.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 12/04/2018 20:23

Yes, PickAChew is also right. Don’t power anything up until at least after you’ve reached Level 20.

You only have 8000 stardust, which is virtually nothing. You want to save until you have a lot and then spend it wisely.

CollyWombles · 12/04/2018 20:31

Ah Pokemon go has IV stats like the games! I've pulled up some guides and I used to play Pokemon on the ds, forgot about IV's.

I haven't spent any dust or candies yet, just caught anything that moves!

Is there anyway of playing the game when you can't get out and walk around?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 12/04/2018 20:34

CollyWombles There’s the PoGo/Gotcha, which you can set to spin stops and catch Pokémon when you can’t be on your phone.

Other than that, when I’m at home I go through my Pokemon, IV check and keep or chuck, do mass evolves on a lucky egg etc.

CollyWombles · 12/04/2018 22:25

Thanks!

From all the Pokemon I've caught today, I'm left with a 91% cubone and 96% Eevee!

Efferlunt · 12/04/2018 23:19

Has anyone used Pokémon on the Apple Watch? Struggling to get mine to pick up pokestops and it never picks up mons even though it’s supposed to.

Efferlunt · 12/04/2018 23:21

I’m on the hunt for a ditto today. I’ve caught a lot of pidgeys and run through all my balls.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 12/04/2018 23:26

CollyWombles The 96% Eevee is good, what level is it?

If it’s under Level 20, it’s not worth powering up despite high IVs as it would take too much candy and stardust. I would never power anything up that’s below Level 20.

CollyWombles · 13/04/2018 00:33

My trainer level is 9 and the Eevee is Max level so I think that's 10.5.

CollyWombles Ahh right, yeah. Too low Sad

It shouldn’t take you long to get to Level 20, though Smile

PickAChew · 13/04/2018 00:51

Efferlunt: Gastly

Murinae · 13/04/2018 11:36

My ditto was a zigzagoon
