I started a second account when I'd finished gen 2 and was waiting for gen 3. I know what you mean with regards to people with accounts of each colour.

RueDeWakening · 09/04/2018 21:15

Yeah there's a guy near me who spoofs periodically, he has at least 6 accounts, when he takes a gym he fills it with his own accounts. It's not even subtle - we have Lapis1, Lapis2 etc etc.

Ours WhatsApp group is good though, if he spoofs into a raid then we use a private group, same if there's someone in the lobby who we cant' identify and doesn't make themselves known before we start. We had a massive problem with spoofers once we'd unlocked all our ex raid gyms, but it's calmed down a bit now.

MuddlingMackem · 09/04/2018 21:23

RueDeWakening, yes, DD and I are both Mystic, so if I take down a gym if I have time I'll log in as her and put one of her 'mon in as well, partly for coins for her but mainly as a buffer for me so I stand a chance of staying in long enough for a decent amount of coins. Lonely pokemon don't stay in gyms long around here. Grin

bettytaghetti · 09/04/2018 22:30

What's the longest anyone's stayed in a gym? And will it only come back when someone else knocks it out of there?
I made the mistake of putting a Blissey in a gym at a church next to a very rural pub in Norfolk and it's been more than a month! I've even gone gold at that gym despite not having to battle etc. Clearly church attendance must be down! Grin I want my Blissey back!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 09/04/2018 22:56

And will it only come back when someone else knocks it out of there?

bettytaghetti Yes, it will only come back when someone knocks it out.

UrgentScurryfunge · 09/04/2018 22:58

I put a couple in at gyms at a living museum over Easter... they lasted 5-6 days! At least I'll get plenty of goodies next time I visit.

I wasn't surprised when one lasted that long on some random peninsular in the far west of Ireland.

PickAChew · 09/04/2018 23:16

A week and yes, unfortunately!

I've had something in a rural gym since Saturday morning but my highest cp Blissey has been dusted down and patched up 5 times since then. She gets around a bit, she does.

I've been practicing my curve ball throws. Getting better. Many first throws and several great throws, this afternoon, though I usually have to revert to straight throws after a glass of wine! I can't do them in sight of ds1 because my rather slow learning curve enrages him. He won't even attempt them so I suspect I'll be having to make 2 excellent curve ball throws, when the time comes.

And yes, I do take his phone out with me, when he's at school.

soupforbrains · 10/04/2018 07:25

It's funny the way every has learned their throws differently.

From the very beginning when unnoticed curve throws got you more XP I just did them for everything, so I learned them as I learned he game and now always do curve throws for everything. I always aim for a great throw on everything too, because great is easy to get regularly for me. So that's where I've 'settled' the curve excellent I was a little worried about, I get excellent throws fairly often but never on purpose (just throw slightly late for a great size circle and end up sneaking into the excellent size). I made a list of Pokemon who have big throw circles so would be easiest to target for excellent throws. (Mr.Mime, Slowpoke, Ursaring etc.) Lugia would have been perfect because her circle was SO enormous I got excellents all the time. In then end I was practicing timing and got my curve, excellent on a pidgey.

Funnily though I can't throw straight. The other day in the rain my damp fingers/screen meant everything was playing up. So I decided to just do straight throws and because I never do them I was absolutely shit. I swear to god if the task had been throw a STRAIGHT excellent throw. I'd still be stuck on it next month.

I also instinctively spin my balls anti-clockwise so my throws curve to the left, but most of my PoGo friends seem to do clockwise/curve right.

EekBarbaraitsaDalek · 10/04/2018 07:27

Apparently there will be Unown in London again this Saturday.

PickAChew · 10/04/2018 08:14

I struggle with stiff/bendy joints depending on how the wind is blowing so always found a well timed flick so much easier.

Funnily, the big circles do help, but I seem to find plusle and minun really easy to hit.

Took the boys for a walk from Tynemouth to North Shields, yesterday, a completed several flying type tasks with wingull! More likely to be catching Surskit in my kitchen, today. It's foul out there.

RueDeWakening · 10/04/2018 08:22

soup mine curve left too, and everyone who's seen me throwing thinks it's weird Grin

No hints about which shinies we can expect...

Efferlunt · 10/04/2018 20:01

Ooo excited about Kanto week! Maybe I will get an aerodactyl after all! Inspired by this thread I’ve jioned a local Facebook group for raids so we will see how that goes.

Efferlunt · 10/04/2018 20:06

Re mons hanging around in gyms, I make the mistake of leaving two good ones at gyms at a National Trust property this week. It’s open 10 - 5 if no ones kicked them out by 5pm I know they are there for another day

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/04/2018 20:24

The only good thing about Kanto week is the possibility of Tauros, as if that is released I will have Gen I completed.

Otherwise it’ll just be a week of seeing the same old Pokemon we all couldn’t wait to get rid of a year or so ago.

Murinae · 10/04/2018 20:51

Hopefully Tauros will come out as that (and Mew) are the only ones I am missing from gen 1 otherwise I think it will be a boring week. Glad of double candies for transfer though.

Murinae · 10/04/2018 21:44

The event has started

Murinae · 10/04/2018 21:44

Double candies and buddy distance halved

Eggzandbacon · 10/04/2018 21:48

Reduced buddy distance - thank god - I have a lavitar and it’s 5k usually! How long is this on for?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/04/2018 21:57

Yes, the reduced buddy distance is appreciated!

Eggzandbacon The event runs for a week, until 9pm on the 17th April.

UrgentScurryfunge · 10/04/2018 21:59

Wonder if I should swap my Wailmer to Magikarp ready for the next stage in the special challenge. Still at the ghost/ ditto stage. 0.5k magikarp will rack up quite quickly as I'm only on about 134 candies for them. I live too far from water!

In other news, at the end of a cul de sac close to a gym, a resident is getting stroppy with po goers parking up legally for 5 or so minutes. I'm innocent, I live within a 10 minute walk so nearly always use Shank's pony as driving is a fair bit further.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 10/04/2018 22:02

I finally got Mew today Grin Wouldn’t have taken so long if I hadn’t been working all hours recently.

87% too; not too shabby.

PickAChew · 10/04/2018 22:09

I would take advantage, urgent. Hopefully the increased chance of the fish spawning will also help. Use those pinap berries!

You might get lucky with ghastly if you still need ghosts, too, though the one in my house at a minute past nine turned out to be my second bloody ditto of the day!

Have seen 2 doduo, so far. Was never this common even back in 2016!
