Still just keeping up the streaks, but yesterday I HATCHED A SNORLAX. That's No2, and I have 40 Snorlax candy.

I get it re grinding up Pikachus, it just feels wrong. I do it though, 'cos I'm heartless.

Well, got my nine 10km eggs in the end, and hatched them on holiday!

It was a very exciting few minutes, given the good haul, and the dc took turns tapping the eggs. I may have woken them up at ten pm to do it, but hey, we're on holiday.

Reception here (Wales) is terrible, but we are by the sea, and have already caught a dratini and a dragonair, excitingly. Sadly the gyms are all resolutely Instinct, though, and I just cannot keep Pokemon in long enough to claim!

That's not a bad haul BSJohnson. I've seen some truly awful outcomes when people have saved up their 10k eggs. Did you use a Lucky Egg when you hatched them?

I've a question about 'rare candy'. As far as I understand all it does is turn into a SINGLE candy of your chosen 'mon. That's very underwhelming..... am I missing something. .....

Nope, not missing anything. A rare candy turns into a candy for any Pokemon you want, which makes it pretty special.

Especially considering you usually have to walk 3/5k for a single one with your buddy.

I've just got to level 29! (I failed to level up in the x2 experience event as I could rarely get into the game).

In the (hopefully near) future, the rare candy could be used to power up your legendary or mythical Pokemon.

No, no lucky egg, PokemonGo, (though I wanted to) as the first egg was an evening surprise, after gps drift while sitting in our holiday flat!

I suspect the rare candy will be the ONLY way to power up legendaries (if they are as rare as, e.g. shiny magicarp), so I'm saving all lot of mine, tempting though it is to max out all my Snorlax, ttar, dragonite, etc!

I have tried using the go to gym feature on 2 Pokemon that I put in gyms while in the US last week and it won't let me. Do you have to br close by to remote feed?

I'm assuming that I haven't had the update for the remote feed as I can't do it although I can see the gym from here. (Not that I wanted to feed it, once they've done their eight hour shift they can come back home)

I've heard the update will de-favourite your Pokemon if you click on them in a gym, or use the new gym button.
Haven't got the download yet myself, but worth keeping an eye out for.

My goals are gold gym defender (halfway there already), a gold gym and level 35 (level 34 is a long slog!)

I have less control over the other things, which is a sheep (which will probably be my buddy all the way until Christmas to fill up my pokedex!), a cow and a unown or 26.

Oh yes, hitmontop would be good, too. I have a tyrogue, but its stats are wrong.

You can't save them to hatch at once; as soon as they hit the 2/5/10k walked, they hatch.

You can wait and put all your 10k eggs in incubators at the same time though, and then they'll hatch pretty much one after the other

But I get too excited to wait so I just constantly have eggs incubating (which is a science in and of itself of which incubators to use when!).

I think i worded it wrong what I meant to say was, I love the idea of waiting until you have 9 10km eggs, and incubating them all at the same time for a mass hatching session don't think I would have the patience though. As soon as I have a 10km, I want to hatch it asap!

I've currently got a 10km egg on the go that's about 6km completed. Trying to put a positive spin on the fact it may be a chinchou- if it does hatch and it is a chinchou, I'll have enough candies for a lanturn, so another addition to the pokedex. Really hoping it's a Snorlax as I've wanted one since the very beginning. Another Larvitar would also be great.

If we manage to catch enough Pokemon this Saturday (the world as a whole) during the event, a Legendary Pokemon will appear in Chicago.

If they manage to defeat it, that Legendary Pokemon will appear in raids around the world!

Bumwad the new gym coin system annoyed me at first, but on balance like icouldbeknitting says I am better off with the new system and it means less work. I used to average 20-30 coins a day on the old system, now I just make sure I have 1 or 2 mons in a gym. If I get my 50 coins early on in the day I don't bother trying anymore gyms until the next day. I haven't really bothered with raids as I prefer to play solo. If I'm honest I'm embarrassed that I play so I only gym at places where it isn't obvious what I am doing or ones I can reach from inside my car. I like that you can just walk past a friendly gym and drop one in now and you don't have to loiter around and train to get a place.

As someone who got into Pokemon -ahem- late ie when Pokemon Go came out, it's hard to get excited about legendaries as I'm not sure it'll make much difference to actual game play. DD8 tries to explain all these complex Pokemon things to me but I'm only interested in the game. Does this make me a bad poke trainer?
