I don't really get what's happening with this Chicago event, a few folk on my local Facebook are getting together for it to play at the same time. However, I won't be able to meet up with them. I'm worried that solo players like myself are going to get left behind.

You won't miss out on anything. Any benefits gained from the event will probably start after the event is over, which will be Sunday at the earliest. Catching a few Pokémon during the event times (there are three 30 minute time slots) will help. You don't need to catch anything specific, only the Chicago players need to catch type-specific.

New update has a few cool new features! Remote (but less effective) berry feeding will be good for stardust!

I've smashed my phone I'm using a very old iPhone that Pokemon Go doesn't work on. I'm going on holiday on Monday and won't have my phone fixed by then.

I think so, you're in the uk, right? For me it's 6 (cooking time) 8 (kids' bedtime) and 10 (I'm not going anywhere at 10!) but I might try to persuade my family to go to a restaurant with a few pokestops, or have a picnic somewhere between 6 and 8 so I can take part in two of the time slots!

Had a brilliant Pokemon walk this morning! Went to a lake for a walk with DS as the weather is so beautiful. I've been before but not for a few years so haven't ever played PoGo there.

-Added 2 new 'mon to the dex- Qwillfish and Dratini! Wanted to Pinnap Dratini but was too scared of it running so I Razzed it instead. Only 122 candies left!
-Caught a Goldduck, which I thought was a fairly good wild capture.
-Collected about 40 Magikarp candies. Currently walking my Magi but came across quite a few today, Pinnaped every one, so along with distance walked and the candies from catching them, made good progress on my Gyarados mission still only on 129 though

Lots of the other bog standards (Staryu, Goldeen, Poliwag), but gathered enough candies to do a few more evolutions and get stronger 'mon than I already had.

Oh and not forgetting, the most exciting part of the morning- hatching a spinarak from a 2km egg!

My current aims are a gold gym (I'm so close now, I keep looking to see if there's a raid there as that will give it a big bump up), 1000 hours gym defending and L33. I may have all of them by the weekend. At some point I'll pop a lucky egg and fill in a few spots in the Pokedex but I'm reluctant to do that until this event is well and truly over just in case I would be better waiting.

I might try to convince DP to download it onto his phone or swap. He'll probably say no because he thinks Pokemon is sad and it's the second time in 6 months I've smashed my phone so my track record with phones isn't good I may have done my iPad too

I've got such a busy few days coming up and then a holiday which I am stressed about, I'm having a full on case of FML at the moment.

My Rhydon has just come back after defending a gym for 11 days and I have had 0 coins!!!!

Anybody else encountered this?

There is a maximum reward of 50 coins a day so if your Rhydon followed something else home and you'd already reached your 50 coin daily limit then yes, you get nothing.

I had a 50 coin payout sometime in the small hours of this morning so anything else that returns today will come home empty handed.

Have you definitely not had any other Pokemon come back today? Overnight, just past midnight?

If not, I have seen on some sites that it may be a bug that Niantic are working on and you should get your coins when they fix it. Not sure what the bug is or how true the rest is though.

That is absolute dogshit! All my Pokemon have decided to come home today. Bah.

@TrashPanda, how about using your DH's phone to access your email and play from that, promising to delete the app on your return from holiday? Or pop into a 2nd hand shop to get a cheap phone?

I sympathise with all those who hatched Chinchou from 10km eggs having had the same experience. I'm willing to bet my other 10k egg is the same as I got it from the same place.

That's awfully bad luck BumWad, and also the reason I keep only one Pokemon in gyms at a time. Currently it's a 1440CP Sudowoodo that's been away for 3 days in an urban gym.

We put our Pokemon in several gyms at a time. Even though we're in a small town they're very unlikely to come back on the same day.

I try to have four or five Pokemon in gyms if I can manage it. If they all come home together then it's just one of those things. On a good day I used to get 30 coins so picking up 50 on a regular basis is better than I used to do.

I had two 10km eggs hatch today. They were so exciting that I can't remember what they were.

Chinchou out of my 10k egg. It's not even my best chinchou. It's my third best chinchou.

On a better note I'm now very close to being able to evolve bellossom, alakazam and primeape. Got my eye on hitmonchan next. I can't face walking dratini, larvitar, chansey or mareep for hundreds of miles so I'm going for some easy wins instead.
