Still just keeping up the streaks, but yesterday I HATCHED A SNORLAX. That's No2, and I have 40 Snorlax candy.

I get it re grinding up Pikachus, it just feels wrong. I do it though, 'cos I'm heartless.

I managed to figure out Discord today which I'd gathered from Facebook was where raids are arranged. We went to an articuno raid and everyone was lovely and friendly and a real range of people (and I could've sworn a MNer or two!). Didn't catch it though :( and it seems it's flying away for good tonight :(

I am getting more and more confused as to when articuno goes and moltres starts! I originally thought articuno finishes tonight and moltres starts from tomorrow, then the general consensus at the raids today was that articuno was available until 1am Tuesday and then moltres starts straight after. No people are saying what I originally thought again! I guess I will just have to wait and see who's appearing tomorrow!

I would repeat what others say and just approach the raid groups. We got approached by guy in the raid group as DH and myself were trying an Articuno raid alone, he asked us to jump out the raid and back into their private group. We got added to their message group and have been to as many raids as possible since then. We got chatting to the same guy yesterday about the community feel that has developed, it's really lovely. Wait around having a chat, do the raid, have a chat about who got it, who's off to which raid later and then say your goodbyes.

Will someone tell me about IVs please? I've just got Poke Genie and have some 'mon that I've always thought are great but they have terrible IV then others I wouldn't even power up/evolve that have good IV.

What do you want to know? Basically, it it has poor IVs it's not worth bothering with as it'll be shit in a fight and take a lot of dust and candy to power up.

Even at high CP if its IVs are shit it's useless.

Cakedoesntjudge Niantic's blog says Articuno runs through until Monday. Whether that means it ends Sunday or Monday is the last day, I don't know.

It also says Moltres is appearing on Monday, but given timezones it could be later in the day.

@WhatToDoAboutThis2017 so would you say the IV is a better measure of 'Mon than CP? Also I had a Lugia that was 93%, powered it up quite a bit and now it's 87% - why would that happen?

Re doing the raid alone we've done a few alone (Muk, quivlar and Bayleef) and been successful and didn't realise the difference in difficulty at that point (we are mainly weekend players).

You have to be clever about it. Obviously a 10cp magikarp with great IVs wouldn't be worth powering up because it would take too much dust and candy.

But when powering up, you want the highest CP Pokemon with the best IVs. For example If you have a 600 CP Rhydon with low IVs but a 500 CP with high IVs, go for the 500.

You have to be smart about it because stardust is so rare, and for good Pokemon so is candy.

They're all low level raids. Level 1 Raids can be soloed, Level 2 can be soloed with the right Pokemon and movesets. Level 3 is possible with two people.

Level 4 you need 6-9 people.

Legendaries, Level 5, ideally you want 11 or 12.

Today has been a good day. I caught an Articuno in my only raid of the day.

Hatched a decent enough Dratini to turn into (my first) Dragonite and now only need a Dodrio to finish my Gen 1 pokedex (excluding legendaries and other region specific Pokémon).

I also beat a gym without taking damage (my cp~1900 Alakazam Vs a cp22 Venusaur). Not exactly a challenge, but still...

Kpo58 I can't find a Dodrio anywhere Nor its evolution. Also only ever seen one Sandshrew so need my Sandslash.

Can get Clefable but waiting for more candies to evolve my Cleffa to have a good IV one.

Then just missing Porygon.

After that Gen 1 done!

Maybe worth looking at Silphroad to see what is currently nesting near you? There were Sandshrews near me last week.

SilphRoad doesn't show nests in my area but I keep an eye out through our WhatsApp group.

Hopefully one day they'll show up!

With IV's, I have a big beast of a Rydon, 2800ish CP, which has a terrible IV (lowest appraisal). I kept it because it has such a good CP. It does well in battle though, I presume because it has Stone Edge? Doesn't make sense to me. (Not that hard...)

Yes, Stone Edge is an amazing move; one of the best. So it will be carrying your Rhydon.

Due to its low IVs, it won't be anywhere as near as good as one that had great IVs.

Try beaches for sand slash. I got most of mine from nests last year, but recently caught several in Margate on the seafront.

There was just an Articuno raid near me, so I reckon (after gleaning Niantic's blog) the cut off is 6pm today and that's when Moltres will be released.

BSJohnson It usually spawns in farmland and quarry locations, but just like beaches, I am not near any!

Will have to wait for 5k hatches.

I've seen a legendary raid work with 8 people, but it was touch and go.

I did my first group raid this morning, after joining a local raid whatsapp group didn't get it sadly, but was v close.
