Loads of variations of it online.
We often have a fuddle mainly vegan ( guests are often meat eaters) selection of homemade curries or pot stickers my partner is a great cook. But we decided to go with a "proper meal" sides will definitely be sprouts & chestnuts, red cabbage , glazed carrots and more but im not sure what else he's planning , he's popped to out now for a few bits of shopping.

I’ve gone for the lazy option this year -

Never seen that website, this is a whole new world. Have you had it before?

@Supergluerules
Not that exact one, no but had similar before.
My partner said " it's just fancy pie" and to just make it. I'm hoping it's as good as it looks!

Hskatkat · 22/12/2024 13:08

He's homemade before very similar to what @EatTheBastard has bought and it was amazing.
I'm another who wasn't aware of that website so thank you @EatTheBastard
@ploffer789 Thank you! Hope you have a lovely day too. Are you looking for ideas or have you made your meal plan already?
Ps if anyone is needing chestnuts home bargains do them, for under £2 for a decent sized bag

I’ve had vegan meals from them before - things like mushroom risotto, roasted veg lasagne and lentil ragu with pasta.

it’s pretty good - only have it occasionally because despite the ‘homemade’ tag, it’s processed with additives. I’d say it’s a step up from supermarket stuff. It’s tasty and so handy to have stuff that you might not want to try and cook from scratch

i'm having the lidl "sausage" and cranberry wreath. didn't think they were doing them again this year but apparently they were selling out whenever they were put on shelves so very lucky to get two of them 😌

@EatTheBastard let us know what it is like, I just watched the video of it being prepared!

Definitely a handy site for some stand by meals, thank you

kikisparks · 22/12/2024 22:26

We like the fake meat stuff so having This Isn’t Chicken and Sainsburys roasts, Sainsburys no beef wellington, Artisan Grains nut roast which is my favourite one, all the trimmings inc vegan pigs in blankets, and trifle and chocolate cake for dessert.

Hskatkat · 25/12/2024 10:31

As it turns out that's not what I'm having , I have got some revolting combination because my partner decided to make something else. Hope everyone else's Christmas dinner is better than mine x

EatTheBastard · 25/12/2024 12:38

Oh no @Hskatkat ! Why did he decide to change it? That would seriously piss me off. Hope the new food is not as revolting as you think.

mine is in the oven - will be ready at 1.30 - will report back ….

RampantIvy · 25/12/2024 12:44

Mushroom Pithiviers with all the trimmings. It's vegetarian rather than vegan because the filling contains a couple of tablespoons of cream, but you could use Oatly cream instead to make it vegan.

Hskatkat · 25/12/2024 13:10

@EatTheBastard I've no idea why he made the random food , gutted doesn't cover it x

EatTheBastard · 25/12/2024 13:49

Reporting back - twas delicious - filo parcels had a definite festive flavour and all the sides lovely and full of flavour.

whole dinner cooked in 60 mins with very little attention needed. Would recommend

I’m having this! https://veganhuggs.com/vegan-wellington/#recipe

genuinely my favorite vegan Christmas dish so far- I trialled it at a friends Xmas potluck and it was a massive hit!

I’ve also made a vegan gravy from scratch- I think it will go down well with my family :)

have a fab Xmas all x

@EatTheBastard he's great usually bless him, he thought I'd prefer the other . He even painted through bathroom yesterday whilst prepping for today .

Hskatkat · 25/12/2024 16:26

My new meal was ok, he's offered to make the original tomorrow x

Autumnpug7 · 20/09/2025 03:13

I've just found the alternative store on line
And they have a tofuturky ,that I'm planning to buy ,it's £17 ,so I'm hoping it's good .
We all struggle with anything made of pea protein...so have to carefully check everything
I also make a simple mince beef vegan pie , sometimes I make it in to meat and potato pie ,so pie as well.
Plus Sainsbury's pups in blankets and all the usual bits

sashh · 20/09/2025 05:22

I do know this is a bit of a zombie but if you are still around @EatTheBastard thank you for that site recommendation. I'm having some investigations for my health one issue is that my appetite has basically got up and gone but that site has children's meals, they might be just the thing.

Autumnpug7 · 20/09/2025 13:13

I didn't realise this was a zombie thread 😁
