I also love the non-judgy thread @Kobanidaughters! @ppeatfruit in the end I bought a sainsburys TTD nut roast and had that for Christmas dinner. I really enjoyed it, and did a sausage plait for the others as that's what they wanted so everyone was happy.
Thanks for the sourdough tips @AlmightyBob, am sure I'll get to sourdough soon. We all love it.

DH tested positive at work on Friday, so has been isolating in our bedroom since then. He's not poorly with it at the moment, with just a bit of a cough. Fingers crossed me and the DDs don't get it, but we're obviously isolating proper for the first time. Unlikely to give me time for sourdough baking though as I'll have to work from home for the duration...

Yesterday was
B: porridge with raspberries, golden syrup and seeds
L: tomato soup with seeded ryvita thins with violife cream cheese
Dinner was curry night - Dahl, rice, piece of naan bread and a Meera sodha Brussel sprout curry that was in the guardian over Christmas
S: peppermint creams, 2 small brownies, one in the morning and one in the evening with a bowl of alpro custard that needed eating

AlmightyBob · 31/01/2021 18:08

Hope your DH makes a swift recovery @PartTimeDomesticGoddess and that you and DDs stay well. I have heard of a few households where only one person has had it and the others have been OK.

Today:

B: sourdough toast and Naturli
L: some dry roasted peanuts
D: two flatbreads stuffed with falafels, quick red onion pickle, cucumber and yoghurt sauce, hummus, tahini sauce, chopped tomatoes with za'atar, shredded gem lettuce, olives.

Drinks: two large glasses Malbec
Snack: Marzipan Ritter Sport (the last in the shop)

Kintsugi16 · 31/01/2021 18:42

I’m relieved to see about non-judgement as was considering dipping out of this thread!

I eat a mostly vegan diet but I’m not vegan.
My ‘lapses’ are rare, usually planned in advance and for various reasons

Kintsugi16 · 31/01/2021 19:56

Shall I get my coat?

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 31/01/2021 21:47

@Kintsugi16

Shall I get my coat?
Absolutely not! Please carry on sharing with us what you do eat. I'm certainly not militant about it, but if you want to only share the vegan meals that's fine too Smile
Kintsugi16 · 31/01/2021 21:56

Thank you and I will.
I love seeing what everyone is eating and only have a non vegan meal literally 2-3 times a year! I just know that can upset some people.

PhantomErik · 31/01/2021 22:10

Crackers with marmite, gherkins & a satsuma for lunch.

Jacket potato with violife cheese & baked beans with salad.

Tin of fruit salad - yummy!

Kobanidaughters · 31/01/2021 23:03

Stay with us @Kintsugi16 (amazing name btw, looking at doing a course for our wedding anniversary) most of us are on a vegan journey and the joy of this thread is sharing vegan food so I think a derail into non vegan food wouldn’t be appropriate but knowing we’re all fallible and it’s all a process I think is healthy and friendly.

I personally stray from veganism when I travel because I couldn’t go on a once in a lifetime trip to Japan and not have sushi, and when I took the DC to Paris I was desperate to have the goats cheese I used to have. I still ate fish once a month of two last year but trying not to at all this year.

AlmightyBob · 31/01/2021 23:14

No judgement here @Kintsugi16 ! I've only been vegan for a couple of years and before that I was variously veggie, omni, and pesci. I'm here because I love talking about food, and it's so nice to do that without fielding the inevitable 'how do you manage' or 'where do you get your protein' sort of questions.

Kobanidaughters · 01/02/2021 04:59

L: white bean soup
S: blueberries and a handful of chilli chocolate pecans
D: noodle and raw veg bowl with spicey Thai peanut dressing

OP posts:
PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 01/02/2021 10:51

I had no idea what kintsugi was, so I've looked it up now. Is it a hobby of yours @Kintsugi16?

Yesterday was
B: 2 slices of wholemeal toast with naturli and marmalade
L: the puy lentil/courgette/smoked tofu that I think @goteam shared. I added some chilli and lime juice
D: 'chicken supreme' from pne pan vegan. Made with fried oyster mushrooms and served with half a large jacket potato, broccoli, peas and steamed spring greens (as well as green beans cooked in the sauce). DH and I both thought it was a bit bland to be honest, but the DDs both liked it
S: chocolate brownie, prunes

ppeatfruit · 01/02/2021 13:47

Kobani Sorry I think there was a mix up with my abbreviation (or laziness Grin }) with the word chocolates!!

PartTime I had Cov last March it was pre testing so there was some doubt, BUT I fought an unpleasant cough (not dry) with loss of taste and smell, some tiredness and confusion. I took my own virus\bacterial killer - It was (blended with half a cup of filtered water) a whole organic lemon, 2 capsules, or heaped teaspoons of turmeric. tsp Manuka honey ,if you 'do' honey, and large clove of garlic. Take a tablspoon 3 times a day. This works wonderfully for toothache too ,it takes approx 2 days. Wish yr dh well and it's a good idea for the whole family to take this (prevention is better than cure)
Everyone in our family have had it mildly anyway. There is not much publicity about the fact that some of us aren't contagious with it . I was offered and took the vaccine before I came over to be on the safe side.

Sorry to go on !

B.Smoothie with ground almonds\linseeds pears\pear juice\figs and filtered water
L. HM butternut squash curried soup. with toast. Ginger chox.
S. Stir fry mushrooms\endive\onions . Some Rude Health Oaties.

Kobanidaughters · 01/02/2021 15:49

Lol @ppeatfruit I thought you were being all
French and fancy Wink

Ginfordinner · 01/02/2021 19:19

I just made mujadara for our evening meal.

Oh my word, it is so delicious. Cooking the onions takes a bit of doing, but it is so worth it.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 01/02/2021 21:53

I have that planned for one night in the next week @Ginfordinner!

@ppeatfruit I make a hot toddy with fresh lemon juice, a teaspoon of honey, hot water and a good slug of brandy (although DH is having his with spiced rum tonight). I haven't done honey since veganuary last year, but I would in one of these if I was ill with any kind of cold/flu type thing. The honey I use is from my dads bees, so I at least know they are well looked after. Thank you for your suggestion, but I don't think I'd get away with garlic in it for DH lol

Today has been
B: porridge with raspberries, golden syrup and seeds
L: roasted winter veg soup, sandwich of squeaky bean pastrami with mustard relish and sliced gherkin, 2 big dates
D: black bean chilli enchilada with avocado, beetroot, Mexican Sweetcorn and cashew sour cream
S: a fairly big piece of the delicious Nigella vegan gingerbread which I can now recommend www.nigella.com/recipes/luscious-vegan-gingerbread

Tr1skel1on · 01/02/2021 21:56

Haven't posted for a few days...

Friday mixed chick pea salad and lentils with rice

Saturday crisps, hummus, tomato soup I basically grazed all day

Sunday vegetable soup then stir fry veg with cashews and rice for dinner

Today L mixed salad with chick peas D spicy Thai noodles with lots of exciting veg and smoked tofu, I finally got to a decent shop!

Kintsugi16 · 01/02/2021 22:48

Thanks all

B: oats with sultanas, chia and flaked almonds
L: a quick peanut butter sandwich
D: vegetable dhansak

Kobanidaughters Smile

PartTimeDomesticGoddess No, I don’t do Kintsugi but maybe I should, the name sort of represents me and my life really and the 16 represents 2016.

Kobanidaughters · 02/02/2021 03:19

Love that sentiment @Kintsugi16

L: last of the white bean and fennel stew, a grapefruit
S: some truffled marcona almonds
D: put a load of stuff on the table for us to graze: olives, raw veg crudités, falafel, HM hummus and guac, crisps, marinated and baked siracha tofu

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 02/02/2021 09:41

May I make a suggestion PartTime ? Careful with too much heat and alcohol because the 2 might cancel\harm the important vit C in the lemon. Dh takes it as his "medicine" . Grin

Oh I have stupidly forgotten the name of one of the original posters, (with you) she lived in Calif. and was flying over for Xmas. I was wondering if she managed to get back? (or has she changed her user name and is among us?? Grin )

B.Leftover smoothie.
L. HM Miso soup with spelt bread. (freshened in the micro).
S. Leftover butternut squash curry soup with quinoa crackers
Sn. Oaties with pnut butter, almond milk chicory/carob capuccino
S.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 02/02/2021 10:35

@ppeatfruit thanks for the advice. I'll suggest to him that he has the brandy on the side but I'm not sure he'll go for it Grin

You're thinking of IJumped who has become @Kobanidaughters! I'll let her update you on her Christmas

Kobanidaughters · 02/02/2021 14:12

Lol yes hello @ppeatfruit I NC, thanks for asking. We did make it over, spent the 3 weeks with my parents in the countryside and got to see my brother and his family as well so I got loads of auntie time. Made the most of being in the same
Time zone as my friends so could at least call them in the evenings with a glass of wine even though I couldn’t see them in the flesh. Was totally worth the stress of going although hard leaving as we always know when we’ll next see my parents but obviously right now we don’t. Though I expect we’ll go back again in the summer there’s no chance anytime soon of them coming here.
