Recommendations for a luxury countryside hotel within a few hours of London

Any recommendations for a luxury spa hotel in the countryside within 2 -3 hrs of London please?

Places I have already looked at:

Heckfield - stayed here once years ago and loved it but would like somewhere new and budget may not stretch this time

South Lodge - stayed there before and the rooms are quite dated

Penny Hill Spa - felt too big

Anywhere else? Would love nice interiors and relaxing atmosphere and not too busy.

budget between £1.5-2k for 2/3 nights

The Elvetham?

The Grove in Hertfordshire has a lovely spa and outside as well as indoors swimming pool. I wouldn't go in the school holidays though as it's very child friendly.

Whatley Manor in the Cotswolds.

Look at The Pig small chain of boutique hotels all in lovely locations. There is one in the new forest. Also one on studland which is amazing location. We stayed in The Bothy there a suite in a separate building in the grounds so lovely.

We stayed at The Pig in the new forest a few weeks ago and the food and service was really disappointing (such a shame as have always had great meals there!) - they also charge extra for breakfast which I think is a joke when charging £450 per night.

The spa at Pennyhill Park is amazing despite it being a bigger hotel.

I also really like Coworth Park near Ascot - great restaurants, small spa but treatments are amazing. Part of the Dorchester collection so I’ve always had very good service.

Also there’s no spa at The Pig (apart from the one in the Cotswolds). So very expensive for a hotel with no facilities.

Crowley Manor, or Dormy House in the Cotswolds. Both have had a refresh. Cliveden in Bucks or Lucknam Park near Bath.
