Recommendations for a luxury countryside hotel within a few hours of London

Any recommendations for a luxury spa hotel in the countryside within 2 -3 hrs of London please?

Places I have already looked at:

Heckfield - stayed here once years ago and loved it but would like somewhere new and budget may not stretch this time

South Lodge - stayed there before and the rooms are quite dated

Penny Hill Spa - felt too big

Anywhere else? Would love nice interiors and relaxing atmosphere and not too busy.

budget between £1.5-2k for 2/3 nights

Buxton crescent, it’s changed hands since I went but rooms are gorgeous and walking distance from a lovely French restaurant too

Lucknam Park - straight down the M4. Fantastic tasting menu and a good spa.

I also rate Coworth Park and Estelle Manor (though be prepared for spa entry being an extra fee at the latter, which is painful as the place isn't cheap).

The Newt is absolutely incredible, the spa in particular. Although it may be out of budget if Heckfield is.

@PapayaMarmalade is the Newt nicer than Heckfield? Do they add a service charge at the end of your stay like Heckfield does? This really annoyed me about Heckfield but it is so lovely. Heckfield is closer to get to but I have had my eye on the Newt for a while but I also like the look of a few of the others mentioned here too. If I go midweek I might be able to stretch the budget a bit further.

That annoys me too when hotels add a service charge for the whole fee at the end of the stay - adds quite a lot to the cost! Not many hotels do that but a couple have done (that we've stayed in) and I just ask them to take the service charge off.

I'm not mean - I tip the restaurant staff and leave cash for the cleaners - I just don't want to pay an extra 12.5% on the whole hotel stay! It irritates me a lot and think it's grabby.

The Langley, Buckinghamshire.

Alexander House near East Grinstead. Or without the spa Gravetye Manor.

Brands Hatch Place, Fawkham Kent. Rowhill Grange, Wilmington Kent. Both are easy reach from London. Hand Picked Hotels is the brand. Both have a nice spa and grounds.

Estelle Mannor in Oxfordshire might not be far enough away? Top end of the budget for two nights bed and breakfast but the entire weekend was faultless.

I liked The Newt MUCH more than Heckfield. There was only an added service charge on F&B, not the rooms there.
The other things to do at The Newt were also incredibly impressive - I would go back for their Roman villa reconstruction alone, and the gardens were spectacular. It all felt very relaxed. I found the meal service and food at Heckfield very slow and a bit fussy in comparison - Breakfast in particular took forever to even get a drink despite hordes of staff milling around. The view from the Heckfield pool was spectacular though
