Easter parade at Battersea Park followed by the funfair there, this was in the 60s and maybe 70 and 71.

Lowestoft South Beach. Have loads of very happy memories of sunny Sunday afternoons there with extended family.

Anything near my grandparents in Newcastle, Jesmond Dene, Beamish, Wallington Hall, Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castles. And my absolute favourite - Fenwicks toy department.

Butlins for Sunday School trip. Looked forward to it for ages and then spent most of the day in the Lost Children depot. I remember I was so disappointed 😪

1967 and The sound of Music had to just come to our Cinema.
I was nine years old and had been in hospital having an operation on my foot.
My Mum and Granny came on the bus to collect me to go home.. but we got off the bus near the cinema.. ( l had to wear my slippers because l couldn't get my shoes on).. but l didn't care because we entered the cinema..
I sat between my Mum and my Granny and the film started..
I was enthralled.. also felt special because my sisters were at home with my Dad and Grandad and l was having a treat.
I was so memorised by the film .. that l didn't realise l had eaten the conk of the apple my Granny gave me.
Was the best day out ever.

There was a deserted farm near us. I used to play in the barns and stables. All day with my friends, no adults, just our imaginations. It was brilliant 😊

Liverpool International Garden Festival! I was very young but still have memories of how good it was, going up there to visit with my parents on a hot day.

Birmingham airport to watch the planes take off or we'd go Stourbridge by the canal. Always had a packed lunch with freshly made chicken drumsticks in and a big bottle of cream soda or dandelion and burdock to share (which then became flat and warm).

Weston-super-Mare

Yes! With the outdoor pool.

And the sea so far out some days we never saw it.

It's sadly gone downhill.

Happy to see the other provincial airport goers pop up on the thread! 😊

When I was about 10 my Mum took me to the ballet and we went to a restaurant for lunch. I had two siblings and my parents didn't have a lot of cash to throw around. We hardly ever ate out and when we went to the theatre or similar we'd all go. It was just me and Mum - a very rare occurance. It's one of my favourite childhood memories. Also on my 12th birthday I had a day out at Granada Studios in Manchester - another extravagance that is memorable for being rare. Those two occasions were provably the only big expensive days out of my whole childhood.

Light water Valley too, I grew up in Harrogate. I was too much of a wimp to go on the Hell slide but I loved the big fort built with logs called Fort William, bet you a tenner it's not there anymore.
I also loved Newby Hall and its massive gardens and playground and miniature railway.

I always remember a day at Blists Hill in Ironbridge. We were on holiday somewhere nearish and went for the day and it stands out always in my memory as being so good. I was about 10. The sweet shop at the end was a highlight.
