What sort of food?

emmathedilemma · 30/09/2022 07:02

If you want casual then Trinity Kitchen in the shopping centre does nice street food.

sandgrown · 30/09/2022 07:02

@hotdiggetydog We like almost any type of food though Italian/European are probably the favourites.

I'm going to Leeds soon and saw a thread just a few days ago asking the same question but forgot to save it, I've been meaning to do a search, you might be able to find that one too. **

InDubiousBattle · 30/09/2022 07:14

The main central shopping centre is The Trinity and as the pp says there's a food area there plus a Carluccios, Alchemist, Craft House etc. You won't struggle at all to find somewhere centrally op.

fruitpastille · 30/09/2022 07:36

I wasn't a fan of trinity kitchens food court area when I went recently but I've always had lovely food in Carluccios (upstairs in trinity).

SheilaSazs · 30/09/2022 08:32

Laynes is nice, it's near Trinity. Also Assembly Underground.

cheeeeeeeese · 30/09/2022 08:40

If you have time, have a drink in Angelica's

Littlemisstall · 30/09/2022 08:44

Pickles and Potter
Mrs Atha’s. Both of these are cafes but do amazing pancakes/cakes/sandwiches
Tharavadu for incredible Indian

Hopefully someone else will come along to recommend more independent places

MissDollyMix · 30/09/2022 08:48

DM and I often have lunch out in Leeds. Friends of Ham near the station is our current favourite venue.

Peabody25 · 30/09/2022 08:58

Shopping wise the main bit is the trinity with all the high street shops, like h&m, a big primark, hollister, urban outfitters, river island, super dry then the Victoria quarter has all the designer shops and John Lewis. Albion street has a good Waterstones, and there's the odd shop on lands lane as well which leads down to the trinity. They all kind of link to each other so you can't really miss anything.

Food wise it's ages since I've eaten in town but there's a load of options upstairs in trinity, there's some on the headrow and in the light which are just up the road from trinity. There's also Greek street which is halfway between trinity and the light.

On Greek street there's the alchemist, lost and found, gusto Italian, bar soba, neighbourhood Leeds, and manahatta.

More Leeds tips please! Going this weekend (university open day) and staying overnight in the city centre.
Which is the main shopping street?
Is there also a quirky shopping area (like Manchester's Northern Quarter) or anything that's just not big brands.
Or any landmarks we have to see?

Hoppinggreen · 03/10/2022 14:45

For quirkier shops have a look at the Corn Exchange
No landmarks I can think of to be honest.
Its not a huge city but is a nice manageable size and has really improved over the past 10 years or so.

SheilaSazs · 03/10/2022 21:53

The Corn Exchange and the arcades have some lovely shops. The Calls is a nice area too.

EwwSprouts · 03/10/2022 21:54

The tiled hall cafe in the art gallery is worth a visit.
Ambiente tapas
Admire the Victorian Arcades

RJnomore1 · 03/10/2022 21:56

Trinity kitchen is great. You can all get from different stalls and some are pop up street food that changes. I’ve been in leeds a few times with my teen and we always visit.
