Where can I find a holiday cottage that is a little bit remote but not to far from the beach and only a short drive from shops?

Looking for suggestions of where we can go for a break? We usually go to Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Wales but want to try somewhere different. We live in the landlocked Midlands so want to get to the coast and breathe in the fresh sea air but we want to avoid packed tourist hotspots. Looking for accommodation that is in a more remote location, near the coast and only a short drive from shops etc (so not too remote 🙈) Can any of you lovely lot suggest a hidden treasure you know of that could fit the bill?

Kirkcudbright coast is lovely as is the Fife coast Elie, St Andrew etc also some lovely beachy places much higher up in Scotland but maybe too far away for you.

We eventually got a cottage in Northumberland for this summer but we really struggle to find somewhere good and things booked up super quick!

North Yorkshire? Filey has 5 miles of glorious beach and everything else on your tick list, I think. You can have direct beach access and glorious views here - fileywhitehouse.com/home.html

Lovely beach, just the one shop & one pub. Easy drive to Bamburgh, Alnwick etc. In the photo you can see a line of houses at the top by the sea not the beach. They are pretty much all holiday cottages with sea view with a beach there at low tide and still in walking distance of the main beach.

Thank you all for so many great suggestions. We’ve now booked a place just outside Mundesley and now looking forward to our Norfolk adventures. Still want to explore Northumberland and several places in Scotland so thank you to everyone for inspiring me to book somewhere different 😊
