We fancy Wales this year. I like the idea of a cottage near St David's. My DD6 wants a holiday park. She thinks cottages are boring.

Any recommendations - either a cottage in a naice seaside town to make it less bore to DD6, cottage with pool, or a holiday park.

Tenby? Ivy Tower Cottages in St Florence have a little pool plus there’s Heatherton and Folly farm nearby. Bit more commercial than St David’s though.
(Disclaimer, it’s years since we stayed there)

I love rainy Scotland but Wales was just awful!!
I actually hate sunny holidays - just Wales was something else!!

Scolton Cottages are beautiful and they have an indoor pool and spa. Just outside Haverfordwest and about 20 miles from St Davids.

Tenby is very commercial, Saundersfoot can be busy but less commercial. North of county Little Haven is lovely, as is Nolton Haven. Broad Haven can be very busy. Solva - a couple of miles outside St Davids - is stunning.

Wales is so beautiful with its coast we moved 240 miles from south yorkshire to enjoy it every spring. Gower, Tenby, Caswell with a trip to bluestone or folly farm maybe?

Yes, Bluestone does seem obvious choice. I've driven past but never been in. It never appealed when we drove by. We have had some lovely holidays in cottages but last couple of years done holiday parks, and DD6 decided she loves a holiday park
I fancy something a bit quieter. I'd also quite like something not too expensive. I quite like the look of Timber Hill Log Cabins.

My favourite beach is Aberporth. Love it for rock pooling, and the stream in the middle. It is so child friendly and I like a beach with cafes close by.

Just wondering if there is an area or place in Wales (not just Pembrokeshire) we are missing out on.

My favourite beach is Llangrannog over that way. It’s a lovely little village and a good base for trips around the coast.

Or there’s the Oxwich Bay Hotel on the Gower. Lots of scope from there to visit lots of beaches without much hassle and there’s a watersports company on the beach. There’s also a castle, a great restaurant and great walks.

Tenby, or areas nearby. Miles of beach, loads to do nearby that would be perfect for a 6 year old. Folly Farm is absolutely brilliant, the Dinosaur Park's good, Oakwood too. If you don't stay at Bluestone you can still go swimming at Blue Lagoon which is the swimming pool there, you just need to book first. If you're ok with a Haven, Kiln Park is a holiday park just outside Tenby (near Penally) which has its own swimming pool, play areas etc. Love that part of Wales!

OP you are right to love Aberporth. We are going there tomorrow for a winter beach walk.

I was brought up in Penbryn- halfway between the two.

What about searching for cottages on a farm, with a pool.
That way, there are likely to be other dc for your dc to interact with, when you are 'home' but you've still got all the wonderful beaches of Pembrokeshire on your doorstep.

We stayed in quite a few different places like that, when our dc were young. Usually someone has converted barns/ outbuildings and there will often be a play area - sometimes a trampoline or we've come across croquet, boules etc as well.

Have you considered the North? Its handy for other places Liverpool, Chester, Shrewsbury?
Lots of nice places its a bit more populated so we found more to do.
Llandudno to Snowdon is only about 45 mins, the whole area has lots of hidden gems, good road links too

We live in North East Wales. A family member has a holiday cottage in Criccieth we stay at every year. I love North Wales too. Just not sure where to visit that we haven't already been to.

I fancied a year not travelling far for our main holiday, as we have a baby. Gower is a possibility.

We had a fabulous holiday one year at Cwmiar Farm but my daughter has forgotten it and is adament she wants holiday park. If anyone is looking for somewhere a bit different then I recommend Cwmiar.
