Cottage wanted to hold sedate Wedding BBQ/chilled reception - Devon/Cornwal 1( week)

I am looking for a remote/secluded cottage with large garden/fields/land to be able to hold a quiet reception in the area of Tavistock/Devon - Liskeard/Cornwall area, will consider anything around these areas, including plymouth outskirts.

I am getting married in Cornwalland woud like to have the reception at the cottage. Nothing grand, just 40 people or so (made up of lots of children), some music (no heavy bands - friends jamming guitars that kind of thing, BBQ, permission for a small marquee in case it rains. Once everyone leaves, we will spend a few days chilling with our little one, and possible have family from USA come and visit for dinner one or two days

No people will be staying over, unless this is permitted (ie camping - and only one or two if permitted).
A coach/minibus will be provided to transport guests home, so ideally space to park cars and collect the next day

My wedding is on Friday 21st September 2007, and ideally we would like to take the cottage from the Wednesday 19th Sept through to the following wednesday, or even the friday, however will consider two weeks if only do weekend blocks.

I will ensure that the gathering does not extend into the cottage (we can hire toilets if required), all mess will be cleared up, no open fires on the ground, no loud noise late into the night, damamge will be paid for (although no damage is anticipated, as not that kind of party). It is to be a chilled, fun evening for friends to gather and celebtrate our commitment. We will be happy to pay a damage deposit.

oh god yes, I have heard of bridezillas, Imust make sure I do not turn into one (am I too late?)

Morningpaper lol, yes I did but thanks for that, just in case I did not. That would awful, to hold a wonderful reception and be responsible for killing everone!
I think, beer and food will go in marquee, if the weather is rubbish, we shall have heaters just outside and all those with guitars inside to entertain us!

Pavlov, that looks wonderful - inside as well as out - perfect spot for a wedding party, I hope it all works out for you

({sad] about Heather though)

OMG, OMG OMG .

Its perfect! we went to see it yesterday and met property manager, who actually owns the land, bought with some friends who own the cottage we are renting. They are away for summer.

anyway, the garden, its not that big, its effing huge! Its not grass, its grass, and flowers and shrubs and trees, and two ponds, and little wicker sculptures, its all oldy woldy with sun patches! It leads to his 'garden' which it a huge expanse of land that he cultivating with a view to opening up the gardens to the public. He let us walk around and said that our visitors are welcome to come into his garden and wander around during our reception. There is a patio area with seating for us to move party to as it grows smaller in the evening.

He also said they had a music festival here last year with 500 people there. The little annex to our cottage is rented by owners son and girlfriend, he is in a band, plays guitar, maybe up for playing at our reception and may have a PA system we can borrow. parking is limited, but he will ask the son to let us use his drive and said if not he will be able to sort something out, ie use his drive/field! The cottage is gorgeous, he said we can use the conservatory as well as a small marquee if it rains. He said this like it was obvious it should be used! The utility room has a huge freezer and another fridge we can use, so plenty of room for food/ice etc. He said 40-60 people not a problem, even talked to us about where to put BBQs and marquee!

There is even a converted barn we could also hire for family very close to it!!! (although might not, as it means they will be too close for all the honeymoon period!!)
The place is absolutely beautful, very cornish, great views, wonderful people there, apparantly neighbours are really friendly (couple farms nearby ish) and have no problems with a party either.

It is 10 mins drive from where we are getting married.

We walked around the grounds in absolute amazement, and I have been excited ever since. To top it off, I have just bought a fab dress from Ebay for a ridiculously cheap sum of money!
