can anyone recommend a nice lodge or self- catering cottage an hour or two north of edinburgh?

a log cabin?

i thin you might be hard-pressed to find that.

why? am i being dense?? you know what i mean though, lodges, holiday cottages etc

Oh no, they definitely exist expat. I stayed in one up at Loch Insch last year and there's some quite near me on the banks of loch lomond.

I'm a west coaster I'm afraid, not familar with Edinburgh or the east. Well I did go to Aberdeen university many moons ago, but my student budget didn't stretch to luxuries other than copious amounts of booze.

Sure someone can help you though...

i am scottish so i know the stereotypes and cliches well - i also have a ginger son! as for the rain, it hasn't stopped here for weeks...
although we have lived here so long, we have never holidayed locally so have no knowledge of holiday accomodation, hence my question.

You won't get many lodges in fife but Perthshire, Loch Lomond and further up into the highlands there is more choice. Loads of nice cottages .

But both girls have a shade I call 'Scottish brown', b/c I see it so often here. It is the colour of chesnuts, w/goldy streaks in it.

oh god bowfing! Haven't heard that in ages. I didn't get that at first...I've never seen it written down! Here's me sat at the laptop going bow, bowf aaaaaagh bowfing! DP obv thinks I'm mental.

Is that naturally occurring "Scottish brown" then expat? My hair's like colour but I don't know many others my age that don't have a little chemical help with their hair tones!
