Forestry Commission does log cabins on the Forest Holidays website

Forestry commission lodges have the forest setting of Centre parks, but at half the price, gorgeous.

We stayed in one on banks of Loch Lomond in August. Shared it with some mice.

Oh there are loads of places with log cabins- there are some on the hill above Crieff Hydro we've stayed in, they were nice and you get to use the hotel facilities. There are some on Arran too, but that's going to be more than an hour or two from Edinburgh. The Loch Lomond ones look nice.

One of the bothies we used to visit had loads, they would wait intil you lit the fire and got he food out then they would start to appear and just sit and look at you.

Skribble · 09/12/2006 20:19

Sorry loads of mice that is.

tamum · 09/12/2006 20:22

I'm relieved it was mice to be honest Skribble- I was imagining loads of locals with pitchforks or something
