Hi all,

My DS is in a pre-prep in Chiswick but I have been told by my friends (who have kids in North London pre-preps) that in order to get through specific schools, one must take help of tutors who prepare for those specific schools. I have absolutely no idea how to go about looking for tutors for KCS so writing here hoping someone is able to help?

Hi I would also be interested to find out about tutors.

Flowerbloom9 · 26/01/2021 23:12

Has no one responded to this query? It would have been so helpful for people like me hunting for a reliable tutor for my 5 year old son.

Hi Flowerbloom and Free Spirit Within,
I went through the 11+ with my daughter last year and i would definitely recommend you find a tutor that knows about the KCS exam, if that's where you have your heart set on for your son. The tutor needs to have a track record of getting kids in there. My daughter went for very competitive schools and I couldn't believe how different the exams were, even thought they were ostensibly both 'the 11+'. The schools are looking for different kids and this feeds into their exams. We used two tutors from Mentor Education as i saw them recommended in School Report .. and I have to say, they were great. My daughter got offers from Jags and Alleyn's and an Academic Scholarship. www.schoolreportonline.com Good Luck!

We used a tutor for 11+ to get my DS through to a local well known Grammer in Lincs/Midlands and my DS still goes to her for English now. I cant say on here as it breaks MN guidelines but I would recommend.

Hi Flowerbloom, I used procedo education for my daughter. The tutor there was amazing. So patient and explained everything really clearly. My daughter (in Year 4)moved up to the top maths set, which we were thrilled with. Hope this helps.

Hi there :)

I'm not so sure about tutors, but I know this website has some good materials that might be of some use.

We used an excellent London-based tutor for our sons who were successful in getting 7+ places at KCS, SPS Jr, Highgate and WUS. Tutor doesn’t travel, though, and highly sought after so you may have to wait. PM me for details.

I will be grateful to get any recommendations for 11 plus exam, how long they need to study and from when they should start to get help from tutor, name of mock exam centres etc. Any general tips. Thank you so much. 🙏
