Since ordering from them and being told my parcel shipped on the 2nd December...still haven't received it. I have talked to several other friends who have all had the same experience...
Their items just never came...and they had to go through many lengthy phonecalls to resolve it. Don't use them!

I'm waiting for stuff, but I thought it was the weather causing a backlog. I've used them before and they were fine.

LaurieFairyonthetreeEatsCake · 17/12/2010 11:36

I ordered stuff 3 days ago - it's already arrived

people have different experiences of them but I've never had any problems with them or Amazon

ABitBatty · 17/12/2010 11:59

If Play have dispatched the items then it isn't their fault is it. They have fulfilled their end of the deal thus far. It's the delivery co you shold have the hump about.

ABitBatty · 17/12/2010 11:59

should*

bumpybecky · 17/12/2010 12:03

I've used Play for several years now, loads of orders all been successfully delivered. I expect the problem you've had is down to the delivery company rather than Play.

There was a bloke on the radio earlier this week saying there was a backlog of 4 million parcels from the first lot of bad weather. That's going to take a while to sort out, even before the latest snow :(

mousesma · 17/12/2010 12:04

I've think you've just been unlucky. I've used Play.com for years and have never had a problem.
Just last week DH ordered a coat and it arrived within 2 days. I have on occasion had to wait up to a week for stuff but they're normally pretty good.

GoAwaySnow · 17/12/2010 12:11

Same here- used play for the last 5 years and have never had a problem. Are you in a snowy area of the UK?

GodRestYeMerryMummyLin · 17/12/2010 12:26

i too am waiting for something from them ,they have taken the money off my card and sent me an email to say it has been dispatched and i should recieve item in 3 to 5 days .ten days later i am still waiting

lifeinagoldfishbowl · 17/12/2010 12:30

Have had no issues - used them for over 5 years and even recently had no issues even when we had all the snow. I am waiting for 1 thing from them but have a week until xmas.

GodRestYeMerryMummyLin · 20/12/2010 13:20

i am still waiting for my parcel, poor dh isnt going to get much cause i cant get out to get the other thing i wanted to buy ! but he has some small things so he wont mind.

Hulababy · 20/12/2010 13:33

Amazon is the same, not just Play, at the moment.

Have used both in the past, up to the very start of this month and both were doing very well with their deliveries. Since the first snow though they seem to have fallen apart.

Our area is no longer affected by snow and hasn't been for a couple of weeks. But we are still not recieving parcels from Play and Amazon yet.

shinyshoesandglitterypoos · 20/12/2010 13:49

Play.com got a parcel to me in three days last week. It really depends where you are.

scarletbegonia · 20/12/2010 13:52

I've ordered about 6 things from Play.com this Christmas, all have come pretty quickly given the conditions.

Only one was slow, if the despatch date was correct it took aboout 2 weeks to arrive through Royal Mail.

I think you're being really unfair, what more can suppliers do ?

cornyPrawnsdefrostJasonDonovan · 20/12/2010 13:53

They are taking longer than usual to deliver - I order from them quite a bit and things are taking much longer - amazon are also taking longer than usual. John Lewis on the other hand are uber quick - don't know how they manage it.

well that was a coincidence - just had a delivery from play!

TrillianAstra · 20/12/2010 14:12

I expect it has been despatched, but is stuck en route with whoever is doing the delivering.

A couple of things I ordered earlier in December took more than a week to come, but this is unusual and almost certainly due to the weather, normally Play items come thorugh very quickly (especially since the delivery is free).

juneybean · 20/12/2010 14:16

I've had excellent service with play.com, if anything has ever gone missing they've refunded or replaced it no questions asked. Always dealt with them by e-mail too never had the need to ring them!

MimsyStarr · 20/12/2010 14:20

We have used them for years as well, they're fine. Recent orders have arrived, but an order from early december hasn't.... stuck in a backlog somewhere, no doubt.

activate · 20/12/2010 14:21

I love play.com I think they're wonderful

littleomar · 20/12/2010 14:23

they got me something within a week last week, despite emailing me to tell me they were having problems getting stock from their supplier. ordered tons of stuff from them and never had problems.

If my parcel dosent arrive in time for xmas i will give it to him in march for his birthday Xmas Grin

ragged · 20/12/2010 14:24

I've had good experiences with Play.com, too.
Right now lots of parcels are delayed from all sorts of parcels, due to the weather and the season. It's maddening but not really Play's fault.
