What kind of person am I?

I've always considered myself to be fairly liberal, accepting and kind.
I don't know if it's my reaching almost mid 50's, menopause, a huge shift in the way the world is now or what but my mindset has definitely changed. To be clear, here's what I have a problem with:

1. Donald Trump, Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, Elon Musk, Andrew Tate and their ilk.
2. Everyone and their uncle having a diagnosis of autism/Asperger's/ADHD .. Where did these come from and what happened to all the naughty kids?
3. Trans-rights overtaking human rights or more specifically the rights of women and LGBandQ people.
4. Little scrotes in balaclavas riding escooters in heavy traffic like the dickheads they are
5. Bigger scrotes in balaclavas driving vehicles the wrong way down a motorway.

I'm still kind, I'm still thoughtful but I'm also overwhelmed by how society has changed so much that it's unrecognisable.

I am a similar age and feeling pretty much similar, apart from number 2, I think at least now there's some understanding as to why children behave differently. But yes, feeling totally fed up with how our country is deteriorating, how the government is failing, the disparity of wealth, the lack of concern for the environment from people in power. I think we are all doomed!!

I keep hearing myself saying I don't like the 2020s. Yes, many brilliant and amazing things are happening - global poverty's reduced, more girls are receiving education, new vaccines and cures are being invented, both Space and Earth discovery are expanding, all sorts of lovely things. The big threats of war, climate change and natural disasters are no worse than usual; the ozone hole is healing. I even like the fashion and music.

But the idiocy! Make it stop!!

I think it's mainly to do with division, entitlement and something about a broken sense of social responsibility. I'm tired, I can't think of the right phrase. That's pissed me off, too!

Fully agree apart from one as the rest lead to one as does the repeated failure of the main stream political parties to govern successfully . People have become disillusioned.

Tate is just a knob who would have been destroyed by comics and the press in the past.

Number 2. Where were all these kids when I was young? I went to a take anyone primary and a secondary so bad they rebuilt it, changed the name and scrubbed the records...but where were all these kids

3 and 4 were always there, just they knew if they miss behaved they'd either get a thumping from a copper or borstal. Now they get ignored by the police and a trip to Disney land from the authorities

I would guess you are politically centrist/centre-left, and socially moderately conservative. None of that is incompatible with being a nice ‘kind’ human.
I think it is a mistake to try to divide the world into ‘nice’ and ‘not nice’ people or to seek a label for what ‘type’ of person you are.

ETA: As for #4 and 5, I don’t think anyone could disagree with you! I think it’s your proposed answer to these problems that would define your social politics or character more than your condemnation of their actions.

Number 3 is nonsense imho. I imagine most people with any sense agree with 4 and 5 and it's horrifying that everyone doesn't agree with 1 - they are absolutely vile, repulsive and dangerous men and I am at a loss as to how they actually have supporters. I'm undecided on 2 but certainly understand your view.

The ND children were at my school too. But they just had to fit in or get punished. I think change is a good thing here.

I think the main issue is the internet to be honest. It takes one thing and blows it out of proportion - fear mongering almost - to make you see the real world in a way that is honestly not true. Trans rights have taken leaps and bounds which is a good thing, but I wouldn't say it has overtaken womens rights just because someone on the internet called breastfeeding 'chestfeeding'. Mental health issues are being taken more seriously which is great and to be honest people that should've been diagnosed years ago probably would nowadays, which is why it may look like everyone and their mum has ADHD although, again, that's not really true.
The others points I completely hear and honestly think you sound very kind and relatively liberal. No one can agree with everything, that is normal and healthy. There are people that think climate change doesn't exist, immigrants should drown and gay people should have no rights, so all things considered I wouldn't worry that these things make you a nihilistic bitter oldie because there is certainly worse out there.

Please do a bit of research and stop insulting people. It’s not a fucking trend. It’s a nightmare to cope with, and greater awareness has led to more diagnosis. It’s not fucking rocket science.

Both my DDS are ND. They were never "the naughty kid". And I look back to my old school days and see how obviously ND children were ostracised, bullied and mistreated with no support from the school and feel incredibly sad.

Well, one of the children who we always thought of as a ‘bit weird’ and ‘eccentric’ in my school is now dead from overdose. He absolutely was autistic. Another girl I remember getting bullied mercilessly for being totally spaced out all the time. A peek on her adult social media shows sunflower lanyard so obviously received diagnosis as adult. Poor thing had a horrible time at school.

I can think of countless others who would have had a much better time growing up if they had been diagnosed and we were more accepting of different neurotypes. Far too easy and simplistic to say ‘not in my day’

My own daughter has really benefited from early diagnosis.

Tarring everyone with the same brush is shit though OP and really hurts people who struggle by perpetuating the negativity towards different neurotypes.

I am so with you with point 1 ( shitty current politics and SM celebrities = deranged, but allowed access to great power!)
Also, with some people use of electric bicycles, scooters and driving, but.... I cannot get bothered with the rest of it, as I do not experience any real life drama regarding this. And I do not know of anyone in RL. So, I will say you are average, but have some unwanted bias with ADHD- autism and trans. Why do these groups bother you? Plus, they really have not much input in your everyday life do they? While Trump and bad driving does, of course.

Your list is a very small minority of the human race. Focus on the plenty of nice ones

I think of people I know who wrestle with feeling negative about anything at all because of all that be kind BS that’s been around for a while.

Women worry too much about being seen as not nice.

My secondary was also reinvented under a different name because it had such a terrible reputation for violence, truancy and underage pregnancy dropouts, but those kids were definitely there, either acting out and labelled violent and uncooperative, or drifting along, unnoticed and not coping.

The autism and trans stuff has quite a big impact on my daily life, yes
In my professional life and to a lesser extent in my family life.
I encounter people who use autism as an excuse for bad behaviour daily. I have a niece who is autistic and supposed trans (the reason I say this is because she's decided she's potentially a man based off an online friendship with people in a trans forum. )
She insists on they/them with others but had made no changes at all in her daily life to embrace her new outlook. It appears to be more of a way to upset her mum rather than a genuine feeling. She was just female before joining this group and never suggested anything else, she's in her 30s).

Sorry @GarlicAnything but the threat from climate change is huge and imminent and likely to override other good changes in the near future.
