The three sisters who died in the sea in Brighton

This is sooo dodgy. There’s no recent photos of them, no one knows why they were there.
They were fully clothed. Handbags on the beach.
Their mum was found dead in a lake 16 yrs ago in Birmingham.
Police have reviewed 100’s of hours og cctv footage and nothing.
What the actual fuck?!

Why is it stupid?

It seems like a reasonably likely explanation to me.

They all fell then all got cold water shock on top? 🤨

Whenlifegiveslemons · 27/05/2026 22:01

I have a friend who's dad died 10 years ago in a garden swimming pool, his partner tried to save him & they both died. It isnt unplausable that they drowned helping one another if one fell in. Being there at 5am is odd though.

HelenaWilson · 27/05/2026 22:01

Who is a witness?! They probably don’t even know themselves yet 😂

Why the laughing emoji? What's so funny?

Witnesses will include:
First responders
People who carried out the post mortems and drugs tests
Investigating officers who have looked at their phone records and traced their movements in the hours leading up to the event
Anyone who saw them in Brighton that day who might have relevant information
Any friend of family member who might have relevant information

And probably also a friend or family member to speak about them, or provide a written statement, to give a sense of who they were.

Justanothernamele · 27/05/2026 22:02

I know nothing about this case apart from what I have read on this thread. Enough to know there were some tragic deaths. There will be people mourning. First people to think of are the people who have died and deserve dignity -actual evidence then go the police - idle gossip will now be a lot of what comes up about people have died.

And yes I am that person coming to say don’t speculate. If there is ever a trial then speculation online may make a fair trial harder.

whitefluffydog · 27/05/2026 21:54

this is the stupidest theory I have ever heard

I think quite the opposite. What makes that stupid? One goes into the sea and slips, the other two try to help. For all we know perhaps none of them could swim.

Backedoffhackedoff · 27/05/2026 22:04

Lunde · 27/05/2026 22:00

The person reporting what her friend in the marine guard saw that night is likely to be a witness

No he wasn’t, he’s (apparently) someone who had access to and therefore reviewed the cctv as part of the police investigation

Not a witness and as told, not someone who is likely to be called to court

Yes if I saw my brother in difficulty in the water, I would jump in to help straight away. It wouldn’t be the most sensible thing for me to do for myself as he is bigger than me, but the fear of him dying would make me go straight away

the poster was talking About witnesses at the inquest so not relevant to your list. And hence the laugh. They haven’t been called yet

Scarlettjune · 27/05/2026 22:00

I don’t know their exact location, but a quick Google search shows that there ARE groynes in that area

Those wooden post type grounds are not at the beach east of the pier.

0livesandcheese · 27/05/2026 22:05

Groynes

Gonners · 27/05/2026 22:07

It's only been about a week since they were formally identified, FFS! This includes a weekend and a bank holiday, so effectively half a week, in a seaside town where the police and other authorities will have been busy. So can we perhaps hold off on the ghoulish conspiracy theories until they've had time to do their jobs?

I might be alone but I don’t think 5 am is that odd. Getting up super early to visit. The beach- maybe to make the sun rise - doesn’t seem weird at all. Even an early swim.

i feel like it should’ve been pretty light at 5am a week ago- but I am not sure whether that was the time they were found or the time they entered the water (I believe they were discovered fairly quickly)

HelenaWilson · 27/05/2026 22:10

The police were appalling in how they handled her case though- commenting on her alcohol use and menopause challenges. I hope they got raked over the coals for that, it was shocking.

As I recall, someone who knew Nicola was about to go public with that information, so the police got in first to make it less sensational and deprive some media outlet of their exclusive.

I think the police fueled the speculation by the way they handled things.

How? They said she was probably in the water. She was in the water. What else could they have said?

IsThisEverOkay00 · 27/05/2026 22:13

I’m a very strong swimmer but not long ago I fell in the water at a beach and it was surprisingly difficult to get out with the shifting sands and the waves. Frighteningly so. I had to ask a passer by to help me out. I hadn’t been drinking.

AInightingale · 27/05/2026 22:14

What way were they described? Did they have shoes on or off, what about handbags etc? Do people really just wander into water knee deep wearing shoes, unless they are very drunk?

You're right. The original post I was referring to said wooden groynes, and there aren't any along that section of beach. There are a couple of concrete groynes there.

About witnesses at the inquest so not relevant to your list.

All those people will be, in the case of professional witnesses, or are likely to be, witnesses at the inquest. I don't know why you would think otherwise.

Why don’t I meet you back here in 7 months and we’ll see then

Witnesses are not meant to speak until they have given evidence and been discharged by the Inquest.

Not the case. As witnesses they can tell who they like, when they like. They may have restrictions placed on what they can say and to whom by their employer if they come across information in the course of their work.

BridgetJonesV2 · 27/05/2026 22:19

The Go Fund Me has been set up by the Uncle (I think) and is for funeral expenses. They're nearly at the target of £45k.

I find anyone who sets one of these up so suddenly after an awful tragedy very suspicious. You've had the worst news imaginable yet are able to get straight online and set one of these up...

I don’t really tbh. In that situation I can imagine everyone asking you (in a really irritating intrusive way to be honest) what can I do? Is there anything I can do? Do you need anything? What can do to help ON REPEAT and actually, saying we’re raising money here’s a link is an easy way to get rid of them and make them feel like the helped (which they genuinely want to do)

One falls, the others try to help. All get into difficulty because cold water shock and panic are, unfortunately, quite normal in that situation.

A fairly common scenario when there are multiple drowning deaths at the same time.

I think that's most likely what happened

I agree. Look at all the awful deaths over the weekend. One was a man trying to save his family who were rescued - which is often the case.
