Regular here on the weight lifting threads, but also regular name changer. The other thread was long so I thought I’d check in.

I travel a lot for work so my training is often nothing for three weeks then a month to get back to where I was. Just been through that, with training/ coached sessions 4 to 5 times a week, plus a full-time and full on job - I need a holiday!

But yesterday I got back in the 100k deadlift club, and unlike a few weeks ago, it just felt so easy! I’d done multiple reps at 90 last week, but failed at 100. So I was ready to try again for the weight and weirdly felt I’d be ok. Then my trainer put a couple of biscuits on the bar to get to 107.5 where I managed a couple of reps with him spotting me. So not quite there to get over my 1RM at 105.

But on the way - 107.5 felt heavy but not that sense of utterly impossible that is a familiar feeling to any lifter! It’s a weird feeling, when your brain says “Go!” But your body says, “I’m trying but No”

Hows everyone else’s training going?

And yes, I am an ego lifter. I like to hit the high numbers - at 66 and not “sporty” I never thought I’d be doing this stuff!

Did 200 on the sled the other day. The sled is an amazing all-over strength builder.

Have you considered powerlifting if you like hitting the high numbers? Then you get cheered on. And it’s also good for not breaking yourself to know you’re going to get a chance to hit that 1RM.

My training is going good. Back to lower numbers more reps and working on technique post British. Ready to try and get there again next year.
