I have a wedding in 6 weeks, is that long enough to add some muscle tone to my body?

I'm tall and slim, run and do weights as and when I can fit it in to a busy schedule. I'm not in bad shape for a forty something year old but would love to increase muscle in my arms, legs and lift my bum slightly, oh and my tummy is a little saggy from having babies.

I have some dumbells at home, max weight of 5kg. What exercises would I get most out of in a short period of time?

Body weight exercises - for your arms, full press ups and burpees. Press up negatives are particularly good.

For your legs, squats. Check for form.

Your body weight will be more effective than 5 kilo dumbbells over 6 weeks. Although if you want two exercises which will shred your body, try the devils press, or even better, man makers. Look them up on YouTube.

Basically, they combine a sort of press up with a dumbbell thruster. The man makers add in one armed dumbbell rows while you’re in the prone position.

Sorry to disappoint but I don't think 6 weeks is anywhere near long enough. The only time this would possibly make a difference would be: if you were already extremely lean, so that even tiny amounts of additional muscle would be visible, and if you had previously had a lot of muscle, lost it, and were trying to regain it (people in that situation can build quicker than a beginner)

I was slim and healthy when I started weight training, took maybe 3-4 months before I started noticing any visible difference in muscle tone and a good 6-12 months before it was noticeable to anyone else. It did make me feel loads better mentally and stopped some aches and pains I had so it is definitely worthwhile, but it won't make a difference to your wedding pictures.

6 weeks isn’t long enough to make any noticeable changes. I would say 6 months minimum to add a bit of muscle and tone using medium weights 3 times per week.
