Protein yogurt affecting sleep ?

I’ve been having one after my evening meal to stop me snacking, but I think it’s affecting my sleep. Has anyone else found this ?

Dairy is a good source of tryptophan which aids sleep so it would seem strange that a yoghurt with added protein would affect your sleep.

I find that if I exercise in the evening I can be restless at night, especially if I don't rehydrate or refuel enough.

Hormones also affect sleep, so peri or menopause proper could be a factor/your cycle.

I've tried protein yoghurt and puddings. I find they give me a really odd, uncomfortable full feeling, like I've eaten wall paper paste. They do not sit well on me at all, specially in the evening.

I’ve already tacked the peri part, which is why I’m wondering if the yogurt has been causing it. I’ve not got any more, so I guess I’ll find out !

I suppose it could be something to do with not eating cheese at night, as it gives nightmares. Maybe it’s any dairy.

You might find it has sweeteners/chemical compounds in it - a lot of them do. Some of these additives have side effects. Would recommend reading Ultra Processed People to understand the affect a lot of these foods have on sleep/mental health etc etc.

I've never heard of protein (yogurt or otherwise) causing poor sleep though.

I can confirm that I slept like a baby last night ! No more protein puddings in the evening for me.

It might be down to blood sugar fluctuations, a spike is normally around 1.15 hr after eating but if high enough is then followed by a crash which could cause you to wake at night. If you need to eat in the evening try something low in sugar such as nuts or cheese.
