12 Year Old and Weight Loss

Hi,
My girlfriends Son has slowly starting to lose weight, he turned 12 about 4 months ago. We both are very worried about him, and the doctor seems to shrug him off, he has another appointment later today.
These are the things we feel he is suffering and wondered if any mums may have experience in this already and help with our gut feeling. He is currently on the 6th percentile for weight.

Weight loss
Feeling cold often
Complains that little bumps hurt a lot
Bruising easy
Sometimes his hands shake

We know that puberty will cause weight loss and he is very active, but increasingly getting worried and feeling like the doctor is useless.

thanks

Not good enough to be shrugged off by the GP.
You need to ask to get him tested for Type 1 Diabetes, Thyrotoxicosis and explore , full bloods and any MH areas where he may be struggling. Keep at it.

Thanks, I thought similar.
He has a blood test booked in for the end of this week.
thank you for sharing your opinion.

Do not be shrugged off, the cold and bruising easily are red flags for some types of childhood cancer. Push for him to be fully tested. I had a family member with a very late cancer diagnosis, one thing they said was that it was reassuring for the Dr to tell you nothing is seriously wrong and you want to be told that so part of you goes along with it. Fingers crossed it is nothing serious here.
