I usually do weights but after an RTA with virtually 3 months of immobility I'm recovering and trying to build up my muscles again. To give you an idea, I can't crouch to look for stuff in a cupboard as so weak in legs. I've been able to walk for 4 weeks now but can't do more than 1km at a time (becomes painful after that) and that distance only once a day, and I've worked my way to 5000steps a day.

I've bought some whey today and I only eat homemade food including meat. There seem to be so many supplements, vitamins, minerals, protein types etc suggested for muscle growth.
What would I be sensible to take to help me rebuild my muscles from such a low level?
I ache every night in my legs - this I think is ok as the muscles should be growing with the walking now
Any thoughts?

tbh as you eat meat you are unlikely to need additional protein.

if you eat dairy, especially cheese there is no need for calcium.

vit d3 is the biggie, so important for all sorts of cell functions.
magnesium for muscles.

I hope you continue to recover well!

Thank you
I've got omega fish oil tablets any way so will take regularly for anti-inflammatory actions and calcium with vit D and h&b super vitamins with minerals so I'll try to take those regularly
Im rubbish with tablets though. At one point when first home from hospital I was on 25 tablets a day which I could only do by putting alarms on my phone
Lord knows how people manage when it's long term

I agree with the above in that you need to be getting your meat and dairy. Other than that keep doing the exercise as guided by your physio and make sure you get plenty of rest. Muscle grow when you are resting rather than when you are training.

Good luck

I've been powerlifting over 4 years now, currently 12wk post c-section and on my 3rd week back in the gym rebuilding my strength.
I have a few supplements. A-Z multivitamin, Omega 3, D3, Glucosamine HCL, Creatine Monohydrate, EAA'a (on training days). I also have Zinc & Magnesium, Iron which I take occasionally. I use vegan protein powder as whey doesn't agree with me, I try to have most protein intake via food though.
Rest is vital for strength building, day on day off as a minimum. I'm only training 2 days a week atm but will eventually add a 3rd with paused reps but no more than that.
