Is it possible to go from wobbly novice to toned at home?

My bum, thighs - whole legs really - and tummy could do with muscle tone. I've never really done much exercise and know nothing about weights. Is it possible to get toned in my living room following YouTube videos? And if so would someone mind recommending one? I have weights (or rather DH does). Also have a 6 month old DS so can't really go to the gym or see a PT.

Thanks in advance!

A good place to start is with Caroline Girvan on You Tube. All free and very weights based. Her Epic beginner series is prob a good starting point and start light (1 or 2 kg. Or even cans!)/build up the weights.

Thank you! Will check her out

Yes it absolutely is possible. I started off with cans and then 2L bottles of water. I hate the gym!

Thanks to this thread (thanks OP!), I just did the Epic beginners day 1. I thought I had relatively good lower body strength. Boy was I wrong! What a great workout, it just flew by. Thanks for the recommendation.

Consider the free trial of the Les Mills app. I love it and have continued subscribing. BodyPump is aimed at toning through moderate weights with a lot of repetition and is a good way to learn technique and see encouraging results. You can use barbell or dumbells /weight plates. I would also really recommend Core/CX Works.

I'm placemarking too! Thanks.

Absolutely! I’m 48 and now fitter than I’ve been.

I also follow Caroline Girvan on youtube. There’s a CG group in the exercise sectionWink
