Kettlebell calories

I am experienced with kettlebell workouts and have been doing them regularly for nearly four years (five workouts a week level!). I recently invested in a calorie counter watch and am shocked at how little calories are burned! I did an intense 30 min session this morning using 8-12kg bells and only burned 130 calories! For info I am 5ft7 and weigh 122lbs. Quite soul destroying :(

Try a 16 for 2 handed stuff and then check.

Why are you disheartened? After 5 years, surely you see how strong your body is.

Depends what type of stuff you are doing. Anything that elevates the heart rate (e.g. swings) will give you a higher calorie count, as the watches work it out by heart rate. Weight lifting type moves don't elevate the heart rate as much unless you're near maximal effort on a compound move.

Well, there are a number of things going on here:

After four year of the same type of workout 5 days a week, your body is used to it, and works very efficiently to expend as few calories as possible.

You need to cross train

30 minutes, 5 times a week, is 150 minutes - only 2 and a half hours. It's not a huge amount of exercise.

Exercise burns far fewer calories than we think.
