Hi all

I've been getting into weights the last few months and developing hard patches of skin on my hands. Most of the time I'm fairly unbothered, but I gave myself a blister earlier this week and it's so so painful now it's popper.

Does this stop happening as your hands get used to it? Or any tips on how to protect my hands (not keen on wearing gloves).

Yep , after a few years of thinking “urgh how could anyone dare shave them” it’s been the best way.
(I just use the Venus in the shower though!)

I wear gloves but still get them - they get better when I use a hand scrub and a really heavy duty hand cream. Currently using OPI sugar scrub and O'Keefe's handcream, and they're still there but not distracting...

I get a callous from a splint on my hand.
I occasionally have a good go at it with a coarse nail file.

I believe some heavy deadlifters use a pumice stone to remove dead skin/calluses.

Must admit I've used my partner's emery board before (when she's not looking of course!). I deadlift a fair bit over 200kg and my hands aren't rough, although skin is thick.

My hands are super tough from deadlifting but still smooth. Occasionally though I get a massive chunk rip open where my palm meets base of fingers when lifting heavy.

Superdrug callous shaver and LOTS of moisturiser
