Which dumbbell weight shall I get? Argos.

Borrowed some 10kg from the gym which I have had to now return.
I am looking to buy my own set.
I don't know whether to get 10 kg or 15kg...
I'm sort of in between weights.
I can strict press 10 but not 15 (can push press this or clean or snatch it (single)
If I get the 15 I can't use it for anything like a front raise or lateral. Also can't lift for a renegade row. But I can do bent over rows, straight leg deadlift or overhead holds.
Should I get the 10 that I can use for what I want now, or the 15 which I can work up to, but can still use for some things now?
Am thinking of the hex dumbells on argos which are £40 for a pair of 10s or £60 for a pair of 15s.
This sounds very cheap for hex dumbbells. Has anyone used these before? The gym dumbbells obviously were decent ones.

link? Don't you want something you can vary the weight. I think the ones DD uses I got for about £20 on argos, variable weight set up.

I would get the 10 and up your reps. After a month or two of that, then get the 15. The in between stage can be frustrating! I wouldn't push yourself too hard with the 15 because you certainly don't want to injure yourself.

I definitely don't want round ones.
This is because if I hold them on the floor in a press up position and lift them up for example, or pass sideways in front of me, they will roll away.
I was looking at possibly these:

You'll be lucky if they're in stock just now

Rollerbird · 07/07/2020 20:20

@dementedpixie they actually are in - showing as limited stock. I was surprised.

Agree with Aquamarine about more reps lower weight is safest.

dementedpixie · 07/07/2020 20:30

I had a look and none are in store near me and haven't been for months. Same for all the weights in argos. We had to go elsewhere for equipment

Rollerbird · 07/07/2020 20:42

Not in stock near me either 😭
I hadn't checked that bit!!!

@dementedpixie may I ask where you went for your weights?
