Pilates?

I'm getting better and better at Pilates and now losing weight too - 15lbs down and another 5 stone to go. Can anyone credit pilates with proving their shape?

I'm looking to start some weight training soon but mostly doing Pilates.

Pilates and weight training go well together: the strength you gain from weight training will help with Pilates. Pilates will give you stretch and flexibility, and a better sense of how to use your body so your form & technique in doing heavy lifting will be better.

To start lifting seriously, it might be good to ask for a PT session at your gym, so you learn the correct techniques the three main lifts are
squat
bench press
deadlift

I think squats - done properly - are one of the best all-round training & toning exercises around. They require you to work your abs, your glutes, and your legs - you need to have your upper body held and strong, and your shoulders help to push the weight up. They're great.

I follow Achieve Fitness Boston on Instagram - their Insta has a lot of really good tips & how tos, and also what to avoid. There's some good deadlift coaching on their Instagram.
