Want to tone my stomach / without losing weight

Mrstumbletap · 21/06/2017 14:03

Hi all, any ideas how to tone just my stomach? When I lose weight it comes off everywhere but there. So I'm skinny with a wobbly mum tum.

I do sit ups and crunches and plank but there is never any tone it's like there is a layer of horrible fat I can't shift.

So I try to cut calories to lose the belly fat and it comes off everywhere else.

I'm a 34 year old female, 9st 10lbs, 5ft 6, had a c section 4 years ago. So look skinny with clothes on but look horrible without clothes!

Do I just need to do loads and loads of crunches and sit ups and longer planks?? Or is there something I'm missing?

Abs are made in the kitchen! It was not only until my fat% dropped below 23% that they started to be "visible"

Oh gosh I'm off to work right now buy will reply later today. I think you need to read up on your nutrition a bit. Post up a picture of how you'd like to look ideally I'm going off you original post and that you'd like womanly curves was what I read into.

Mrstumbletap · 05/07/2017 16:34

You said the type of body I would like, well hopefully I'm not being too hopeful/bloody ridiculous... but I have attached 2 pictures, this would be amazing. Just flat and toned.

Personally, I don't think either of them are particularly toned. Especially the one on the left. Her body is a natural flat stomach and that's genes I'm afraid. The second one seems more toned, but again if we don't have a before photo we wouldn't be able to help

AlletrixLeStrange · 05/07/2017 17:00

I'm following this as I'm stuck on it too.
I'm 5'9" and 9st5

I go to the gym where I weight train (can't do cardio for the life of me). Squats are good for tummy toning but it's mainly diet. I've cut my waist from 28 inches to 26 inches in the past 2 months but it really is diet. "White" foods make me look more bloated and therefore fatter. I do 12 squats x 3, 50 crunches, 50 sit ups during my main workout but I try to do another 50 sit ups before bed.

I can't get it properly "toned" though like my arms/back/shoulders/legs Sad

revolution909 · 05/07/2017 17:02

alletrix just curious have you been doing this for only two months?

AlletrixLeStrange · 05/07/2017 17:56

Revolution yeah. Total diet/lifestyle overhaul was in need!

revolution909 · 05/07/2017 18:03

Ok! Well in my experience (mind you I ended up losing 4st) it took 9 months to have a toned stomach.

Strongbeatsskinny · 05/07/2017 18:47

No muscle definition nothing nice about either one of those pictures just women without a bloated stomach. By the first post I got the impression you wanted to look lean with definition in your arms, glutes (butt) and legs.

Just cut white carbs eat clean and if that doesn't reduce your bloating have a private intolerance test done. After you've eliminated the reactive stuff if still bloated have a private stool analysis treat the cause and then you might with diet get your wish of being what we call in the industry skinny fat like the pictures.

Doesn't sound As though your interested in building curves in the. Form of weight training you already said do I have to get a coach in a gym this was suggested because I thought that's what you wanted. I didn't want you just going Ina gym with a made up program off the internet and possibly hurting yourself or not lifting heavy enough to actually transform you.

AlletrixLeStrange · 05/07/2017 19:07

Revolution I haven't lost any weight, in fact I've gained weight but I don't want to lose weight anyway (overcoming ED). I'm still the same clothing size (8) just without the bingo wings and my stomach is tighter.
I work out at least 5 times a week for around 1-1 1/2 hours then swim after probably 3 times a week too.

revolution909 · 05/07/2017 19:23

Alletrix I believe that's because you didn't have much fat to lose in the first place (unlike me!)

revolution909 · 05/07/2017 19:47

Get a subscription to fitstar but I think you just want to be not bloated and that would make you happy

Mrstumbletap · 05/07/2017 22:12

I wouldn't mind getting a coach at the gym at all, if thats the way to do it.

Cardio and weight loss don't define much for me and I've always just done cardio and a bit of weights like arms at the gym, never even attempted free weights. Plus I have heard that having more muscle when resting burns more calories so that has got to be a good thing.

All the women in my family were apple shaped, my mum always said "after children you won't have a waist" and I'm desperately trying to get one back.

So so far you have all been helpful and I should:
Cut carbs - especially white
Lose some weight
Avoid sit ups
Do Pilates
Learn what a hanging leg raise is

Is that right, anything I'm missing?

You should be working your core with most exercises - it's braced for everything!

I do very limited target core:
Ab rolls (with a little wheel pushing out in front of you - Google).
Various raises on a big squishy ball.
Pushing plates around the floor.
Plank. Make sure you're doing this properly. I used to kind of 'hang' but my PT told me to actively try to draw my hipbones (along the line of my body) to my rib cage and it made a lot of difference.

I incorporate core into main stuff:
Pull ups with legs raised.
Never ever cheat on push ups - it's a plank position all the way.
Basically, all weight lifting is with a braces core.

I have a flat, toned stomach (and am currently working on getting the horizontal lines of my abs to show). But.... no matter how strong my arse is, no matter how skinny the rest of me gets, I cannot shift my wobbly bum. We all have 'something', OP.
