Toning flat bottom and wobbly tum, help?

I lost about a stone in weight whilst splitting up with dh ( due to stress ), I would now like to keep it off and tone up. I have been going to the gym for a few weeks but mainly been doing cardio workouts ( treadmill, bike and rowing ), have just ventured over to weights to tone up my bingo wings but the main things I need to work on are my bum and tum, my bum is very flat ( probably from sitting on it way too much ). What are the best things to do to tone up? Are squats really good for your bum? Any advice please?

Yes, squats will really help your bum, and your legs, tummy etc. Make sure that you have the technique right- you need to get as low as you can to make sure you engage all the muscles.

Start off maybe just holding a dumbbell or weight plate in front of you and make sure that you get the movement right before you start using a barbell. Once you are feeling confident then get one of the gym trainers to show you how to use the squat rack (NOT the Smith rack).

There's a good article about squats and technique here.

For bingo wings, proper push ups will really help, plus they will help with your abs too.

Can i ask why not the smith rack Earslaps?

Because it is not then technically a free weight exercise. You won't get the stabilisation benefits of working with free weights and it can force you into an unnatural position.

Good article here.
