What do you think of Tarot card readings and similar?

I went to a 'psychic medium' yesterday who was highly recommended by close people I know.

I'm not sure if they were tarot cards or another type of cards. I picked 8 cards, she talked through them. They had relevance to my life but I am skeptical and think that any card could have been twisted to fit my life. She asked a lot of leading questions and I feel like I filled a lot of gaps for her.

My DH saw her separately and thought she was brilliant and bought every word she said. Thought she knew a lot about his life and past and believes every word she said about his future.

What do you think? I'm intrigued because so many friends have totally bought into it.

Oh, she's an utter genius. I was so sad when she died. She was also about to move to a place I used to live in, next door (well, across the fields) from someone I know quite well. I was very sorry she died before she got to live there. It's a lovely spot.

Maybe God should cut down on the demon workforce if it's overstaffed?

I went to see Psychic Sally after losing Ddad a few years ago. Not convinced ...

So likes of Greek gods not allowed, but demons are ok.

So if I say there are no gods and no demons, is that different from you saying there is none of these other gods ?

How do you know there is only one god ?

The only use for tarot cards is to steady the leg on a wonky pub or cafe table!

One God (according to Christian belief) - and probably millions of demons (they are fallen angels who went with Lucifer when he rebelled against God).

Answering the OP; all that stuff is an early form of therapy, that is crap. Tbh there are plenty of shit therapists out there but at least there are some sorts of professional guidelines and in theory some accountability. Presumably there are some nice and thoughtful mediums as well but most of them are just frauds imo.

A connection with my DP’s family has a tendency to go to mediums. Now, it’s not the medium’s fault that the person has taken a vague cold reading as having some kind of factual basis, but the fallout has been absolutely disastrous. Don’t build your life on sand.

God is certainly benevolent and loving but there are some people who don't want to have a loving relationship with Him.

So to be fair God makes it possible for them to give their souls to other entities.

1. God works to His own timetable, and as I don't have a copy of that, I can't answer your question.
2. In the Bible, Deuteronomy tells us anyone who consults with the dead is detestable to the Lord. The story of Saul consulting a medium to bring up the spirit of the dead Samuel resulted in his death because he was unfaithful to the Lord. He did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance. Clearly, God has declared that such things are not to be done
