Does anyone want a tarot card pull?

I need to get my eye back in as I'm planning to get back in the swing of offering readings again in my local area.
I've been out of the loop for a couple of years, so I'm happy to do a few readings on here, because you'll be helping me just as much as I may be able to help you.
I should point out that my readings are not based on any psychic ability; I believe that each card contains multitudes and that normally a topic is discovered through back and forth during a reading, so forgive me if these seem a bit dry. If you could give me an area to focus on I'd be obliged, as with just a single card pull there's not always a huge amount to go on.
Let's limit it to the first 10 people and we'll see how we go.

@CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair You asked about a house move, your work situation and the year ahead. It sounds like a lot going on, so first I pulled a card for you as an overview for the year, and this card was the 4 of swords.
This is a card of recuperation. It shows an effigy on a stone tomb. Swords hang above and below the tomb, but they do not touch the figure. Generally this card serves as a reminder that sometimes we need to take time for ourselves, in contemplation and self-reflection. The stained glass above the tomb shows Christ blessing a penitent, so there is very much a theme to the card of understanding one's own behaviour and how one's energy is reflected back out into the world. It can also represent a time of healing after an illness, or a more general retreat from participation, where you might just be done with people for a while.
So the card tells us to take time for ourselves, but can also stand as a warning not to rush into things. Swords are thoughts, after all, and words can hurt. The card may be asking us to think a little before we speak -if you are an open mouth, insert foot type from time to time, you are being told to not rush so hastily into battle in the future.

For your house move, I pulled The Queen of Wands. As a situation, she represents movement, activity, positive thought and support from friends and family. Normally the court cards appear to represent a person, so it may be that you will receive help from somebody like this -she is gregarious, warm, comforting and friendly. She is a supportive friend and a great cheerleader for you. If you need to lean on someone, she will be your rock, and give great advice. If you think this card represents you -trust your instincts, you're on the right path.

For work, I pulled the three of pentacles. A great card for careers as it is all about building things together that are greater than ourselves. Teamwork and collaboration are paramount when this card appears, so working together on projects is highlighted. It also has the meaning of taking time to invest in yourself, with further education or qualifications/

@cittigirl You asked for a reading about health and love, so I pulled you two cards.
For health, you have the four of wands. This card can indicate a return to health after a period of illness or loss of vitality. It shows that we have the support of those dear to us, or are in a position to help the ones we love with their health. It is not a card that normally says that we have anything to worry about, so health is not an area that you need to overly concern yourself with right now.

For love, I pulled The King of wands. Court cards can be ambivalent, as they may represent you, someone you know, or qualities that you desire or respect in someone else/a romantic partner. Traditionally, this would indicate a forceful, strong, dynamic masculine person, or someone who has those attributes. They are a go getter, assertive and they value independence in their partner. However, they are also deeply committed to a partnership -this is not a person who would be unfaithful or untrustworthy. As a situation, the King can represent a desire or readiness to start a new relationship, to take the lead and not settle for anything less than the best. If a new relationship is underway, he can represent a battle of wills where two people who don't know each other that well yet are sounding each other out. Because he represents honest and energetic communication, these situations normally iron themselves out.

@Blarn You asked about career progression, and the card I have for you is the 7 of Wands.
This card has a little of the 'Do or Die' mentality about it. You may feel that in your career you are constantly having to prove yourself, or that you are fighting to keep your position amongst competitors. You may feel that you are on shifting sand, and that the goalposts are constantly being moved.

Are you facing rivalry in the workplace, or constantly having to defend your position? This card acknowledges that things can be tough, but that you need to remain focused and persevere through challenges.

It is about advocating for oneself, developing a more ruthless streak if necessary and perhaps stopping hoping that being a nice person will be enough. If there are ideas that you have which may be good for your company, perhaps now is the time to stop being generous with them and start thinking more strategically. There are plenty of people who will use you in order to get ahead, and not everyone is your friend.

It is also a card that tells you to put away any negative thoughts you may have about your own competency and ability. Put those to one side, the have no place here.

@Bixterret First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. You have asked about the sadness that is still with you after the death of your partner. The card I have for you is the nine of Wands. Whenever I see this card I think of the William Ernest Henley poem Invictus:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

This card is one that speaks to our 'unconquerable soul.' A man stands, supported by just one staff, while behind him loom the other eight. He has seen them all off, and is still standing. It is to your testament that you are still standing after all you have been through. The wands can stand for many things, but in your case, they seem to represent your sadness. You can keep it at bay only for so long, but it is always there at your elbow, threatening to overwhelm you. When a card comes along that seems to do no more than agree with us that this is how life is right now, the only thing we can do is roll with it a little longer.

I pulled another card for you, and the card that appeared was The Queen of Swords. She is often called The Widow Queen, in Tarot, which seems very apt in your case. She is self reliant, resourceful and self contained. She is not someone to ask people for help, believing she can ride these things out by herself. She is wary in making herself beholden to others, and while these are all noble qualities, she does sometimes need to accept help and support from those who love her, or else risk becoming more and more cut off from them.
She is a person who lives mostly in the mind, and it might help to take some advice from her oppo, the Queen of cups, who is a great believer in letting it all out, talking things through and listening to your intuition.

I sincerely hope things become easier for you in time.

Thank you, the last few years have been difficult and in many ways it’s felt like my life has been on hold but I can see that it’s important not to rush into things now.

@Itiswhatitis80 You asked if you were going to have a better year, and the card I pulled was the 6 of Wands.
That is just a straight up Yes answer. There's not much more to say on that score! It's a card of success, of triumph after a period of downheartedness and failure. It is the card I would expect to see that brings good news; it is a harmonious, happy card. I pulled another card to see if they would elaborate a little, and the 7 of Cups appeared. This is a card that can caution us against things that seem too good to be true, or about having unrealistic ideals. It is a card that says to look before you leap and check over each opportunity carefully as it appears to see that it is as it says it is.
Happy days though! 2025 seems set to be a good one for you.

@BRL2 I've finally reached you! You asked about work projects in the pipeline.
I pulled two cards for you because I wanted to see where you are now and what the outcome will be.
Where you stand is The 5 of pentacles. This is a card that can speak of loss. Traditionally it speaks of times of trouble and financial hardship. It is a card that asks us to perform the Herculean task of picking ourselves up and dusting ourselves down in order to carry on.
It can be a card of Pride, of not wanting to accept help, and it can be a card that says we perceive things to be a lot worse than they are. If you are a catastrophiser, you may know that feeling all too well.

If you are going through a fallow period with work, it may be that you need to look around and see where you are able to diversify in order to model the best approach and be creative as to where you find work, or who you work with.
For freelancers, for example, this might mean approaching sectors that they hadn't previously worked with. It can also, unfortunately, possibly mean accepting a little less in terms of payment for a project in order to secure the job.

For the outcome, I pulled the 10 of Pentacles. Pentacles tend to represent money and investments, jobs and all things relating to security. Numerically speaking, you've gone from a five to a ten, so you have figuratively doubled your money, in Tarot terms! This gives me a lot more confidence that we are not talking about a period of monetary loss, but that you might have to be a bit more flexible with regards to your projects than you might like., However, the outcome card is a wonderful, secure one, so it will very much be worth it in the end.

@Chesterdrawswalla You asked about the next steps in your career, and your card is Temperance.
Temperance asks us to find balance. In the Major Arcana she comes after the Death card, so normally points to a time in our life when we may be reeling from some great, transformative change. Her message is to find a way to bring into harmony the different strands in our life, or obligations we may feel beholden to. If we have been working so hard we feel burnt out, Temperance asks us slow down and find time for ourselves, and what we really want. If we are beginning again from scratch, she asks us to be calm, meditative and look inwards to divine the best course of action.

If you feel off kilter in any way, this is the sign to rebalance yourself before you make any kind of decision. It says slow down, evaluate everything and take baby steps first of all. This card can show up in a reading for people who are prone to impulsiveness. It suggests that we spend some more time in contemplation before we make any decisions.

@PracticalTarot

Bless you for taking the time to give me a reading. How very apt you pulled the Widow Queen card. Everyone tells me I'm strong and self reliant, and I realise I should ask for help sometimes and that it's not a sign of weakness.

Thank you.

PracticalTarot · 31/01/2025 16:59

@Soubriquet You asked how your year will progress, and the card you have is the four of cups.

This is a card that can appear when everything feels a bit flat, a bit stale. You may feel jaded, and like nothing really meets your expectations. If I could sum up this card in a feeling, it's like the 'meh' that we feel after a big event like Christmas -we've put in a lot of effort and hard work and yes, it was fun, but now we're back to the same old same old. It can also come when you feel disillusioned about people, or a particular person -you may feel as though they have let you down.

This can be the card of First World Problems. It can appear when we are in danger of taking our lives and our blessings a little too much for granted. There are opportunities out there -on the card the man is being offered a cup from a hand that has appeared from the heavens but he seems to have little interest in it.
If this feels like it may apply to you, then the message of the card is to be open to new opportunities, new experiences, because you never know which one could be a wonderful gift. An opportunity to experience something amazing will come, the card shows us that. You just need to recognise it for what it is when it happens.

@MorrisZapp You asked if you would feel close to your teenage son again. The card I have for you is the 5 of swords, which has shown up a few times already on this thread.

The card can indicate a division. There has clearly been a fight of some sort, some people have thrown down their swords in defeat and walked away. The sky is jagged with a coming storm. It is an unhappy, prickly card, and the victor, although they look pleased with themselves, is standing in a wind that has started to blow. The 5s are all about change, upset, conflict -and because swords represent thoughts and words, it's possible that things have been said in the heat of the moment that are proving difficult to take back. Wounded pride may be an issue. There may be a power imbalance, a sense that someone 'holds all the cards.'

Because I felt that this card was describing a situation rather than giving an answer, I pulled another card. It was the 9 of Pentacles, which is a lovely, reassuring card. She represents a happy and secure home life, with plenty of home comforts. The nines are generally positive cards, as they are the point just before the ten, which represents completion. In some sense, the nines tell us to look back, we are nearly there, completion and success is within our grasp. We need to check that we don't mess this step up before we cross the finish line. If we are ready to continue, and we are sure that we are secure enough to help others, we can extend that hand.

@Hoolahoophop I had to look up the reference to Nancherrow, as I hadn't heard of it! But I believe I understand your query now about your move.

The card that came up was the Knight of Pentacles. The court cards can represent a person, or a situation. As you have asked about a situation, it seems that things may have slowed down a bit, if not come to a bit of a standstill. All Pentacle cards represent money and security in all their forms, so I wonder if there are, or will be, problems with cashflow. This Knight is a methodical man, so he could represent pauses or delays to do with contracts, and so Mortgages, banking, inheritances -all of these fall under his remit. It may be frustrating, but it is all to the good in the long run as he will never intentionally squander or waste your money.

I pulled another card for some more clarity and it was the three of swords. Never a happy card to see, it indicates intense unhappiness, and often a third person, or organisation, in the mix who is causing the stress. It does point to a time of negotiation being necessary to move forward.

I pulled a final card and was very relieved to see Strength -on her first outing on this thread!) It seems that you will need a certain amount of inner strength, determination and sheer bloody mindedness to see this project through, so it can be done. This card has links to the Labours of Hercules, and what might seem to you right now like a Herculean task, can be managed by breaking it down into separate labours, and tackling them step by step. Courage!
