Does anyone want a tarot card pull?

I need to get my eye back in as I'm planning to get back in the swing of offering readings again in my local area.
I've been out of the loop for a couple of years, so I'm happy to do a few readings on here, because you'll be helping me just as much as I may be able to help you.
I should point out that my readings are not based on any psychic ability; I believe that each card contains multitudes and that normally a topic is discovered through back and forth during a reading, so forgive me if these seem a bit dry. If you could give me an area to focus on I'd be obliged, as with just a single card pull there's not always a huge amount to go on.
Let's limit it to the first 10 people and we'll see how we go.

@FiloPasty The card I have for you is the 6 of pentacles. It is a card of charity. It can be a card of making sure everyone else is ok before we look at our own resources and whether or not we have the capacity to do that. It could be that someone else is caring for us and they are running out of energy to do so.

It can be a card of obligation, and the sense of resentment which can arise on each side of that. It can ask us to seek help from the wider community, such as support groups, or accessing talking therapies. It can be a bit of an opaque card, so I drew another for you, which was The Hierophant.

This cards asks us to not draw too much attention to ourselves. It is a card which says that sometimes, the tried and tested methods that we have of dealing with things might be for the best. For now. It can conversely be the card of someone who is feeling beaten down by that conformity and who is seeking a way to break out. I wasn't sure which, so I pulled a final card.

The Knight of Wands is a very definite indication that action would be for the best. That could mean that, health wise , literally becoming more active would be a good idea, or it might be that just generally you need to find a new way of being in order to be at peace with yourself.

@ForeverinBJ You mentioned that you were stuck and that you have to make decisions in your home life. Well -your card is the Devil, sorry about that!

If you've read some of my other readings where the Devil has shown up, you may remember that he often represents a situation where we may feel stuck, or even terrified to make change. We may feel defeated, and hopeless, but the only way out of our current problems is through making those changes ourselves.

We can believe that the situation we find ourselves in may be not as bad as all that -after all, we've put up with it for ages, right? It almost feels normal. It can represent a sense of enslavement to a person or a situation that we feel powerless to change. The problem feels huge, overwhelming even. It can sometimes represent physical addiction, or mental entrapment. It can represent a controlling person who makes your life feel -well, yes- Hellish.

As ever, the answer is in our hands. We just need to reframe the situation so that it appears less scary to us. Can we walk away from a controlling spouse -yes of course we can. Easy to say, but we can. Can we leave an awful job? Absolutely. We can retrain, assess our finances, go part time. The Devil is here to make us examine our own behaviour and how we can change where we currently find ourselves.

@lovemetomybones Your card is the 10 of cups, and in my experience, it comes up rarely - but when it does, it bestows happiness. It often comes after a period of hard work or endurance and tells us that something long fought for has finally borne fruit and we can enjoy the benefits at last. The card shows a couple giving thanks to a rainbow full of ten cups, while their children dance happily beside them. The sky is clear, and they appear free from worry. They have enough self awareness to know to give thanks for this interlude -it is very much a card that tells us to grasp good fortune when it appears with both hands and hang on tight.

It also tells of a happy, balanced family life where everyone works together for the greater good. There don't appear rifts or arguments in this card.
I covered it with another card to ask for a little more detail, and the nine of pentacles came up. Again, a lovely card showing that you can now enjoy a time of peace that you have worked very hard to achieve.

@TRC11 This card virtually bounced out of the deck at me. She wanted to be picked! She is the Queen of Cups.

This queen is an emotional sponge. She takes on everyone's problems and treats them as her own. Psychically, it can be draining to have the level of empathy that she tends to show constantly towards others. She can use this empathy professionally, in counselling, as a therapist, as an artist and so on. Or she can represent someone with a big family, or a big friendship group -this is a woman who takes lame ducks under her wing and treats them as family, so it's not unusual for her to constantly be running around helping others.

The flipside of this of course, is that her wants and needs are often considered last. You asked about a move to Spain and whether it was a good idea. I wonder if you are asking this because you have listened to everyone else talking about whether it's a good idea or not, but no-one has thought to see what you truly think. For all her ability to empathise and support others, this queen needs a little more grounding and practise in putting her feet firmly on the ground and learning to roar. Perhaps then she can look inwards and use the good advice that is normally given so freely and cheerfully to others, on herself.

Sorry I didn’t give a specific area earlier, would you mind focusing on family and career please

PracticalTarot · 28/01/2025 12:45

@AndThereSheGoes You asked about your current situation, and your card is the five of wands. The fives are never easy, and the wands are cards of action and movement, so you may be going through a time of arguments, petty squabbles, misunderstandings and disputes.

I find this card pops up when we are having trouble with colleagues at work. Sometimes family, but mostly this card can be of a load of people all with differing opinions who won't just shut up and listen. If this is your team at work, it may be time to take a different approach -could there be a valid reason why everyone is shouting to be heard? Do you need to implement a way by which each individual can have their say and feel like they are being listened to and valued?

It can also be the card of 'jockeying for position' -so for graduates, or people just entering the job market it can represent the struggle to be seen as they apply for jobs, places, courses, results... It can be the card of feeling undervalued and overlooked in a personal relationship too, things that end up in niggles and snappy bickering. Ultimately the card asks us to assess our position, modify our footing and stand our ground. The difficult period will pass, if you can find ways to navigate it.

@Movingpieces You have asked about work, health and money. For work, I pulled the two of cups -You could be entering into a partnership in your professional life -it could be a new job, a new position or a new project, but it augurs well for you if you keep your eyes open to any pitfalls. The twos are normally the beginning of something.

For health, You have The High Priestess. She encourages us to use our intuition and because she represents the Sacred Feminine, she rules Hormonal matters, everything reproductive and also mental health. She is powerful, and stands as a reminder to take these things seriously and not minimise them. A healthy mind in a healthy body and all that. She can sometimes represent the loss of a parent and as such, the time in our lives when we step[ up and take over as the head of the family.

For money, it was the ten of cups, which is having its second outing today! A great card for finances, it shows that plans are starting to come to fruition, investments are maturing and windfalls may be around the corner. The card usually relates to family, so be open to money flowing towards you from those channels.

lovemetomybones · 28/01/2025 13:05

Thank you so much for this x I have a son who has a lot of need and we are working so hard to help him, also we are a blended family with challenges so it's just lovely to think that we can have a really positive family relationship together x you made my day! X

PracticalTarot · 28/01/2025 13:08

@7catsisnotenough You asked if you had made the right decision about work, and I have pulled the Ace of Cups for you.

All the aces are wonderful cards of affirmation, and it might be that this decision will pay off handsomely for you. The cups bring emotional harmony and the balancing of our emotions. They represent honest connections with people on a deeper level. They also represent creative projects coming to glorious fulfillment and an opening up of our internal ability to be creative, show true emotions and mend rifts with people, be they family, friends or work colleagues.

If you have been having a tough time at work, the ace of cups appears to show you that difficult times will soon be past, and that this period of upheaval will be behind you in no time.

@PracticalTarot I didn't give you an area to focus on so may have missed out but if you still have the energy my area of focus would be love and relationships. Thank you so much.

Sockmate123 · 28/01/2025 14:31

I didn't put any area either 🙈 sorry I'm new to this.

I would like guidance on my relationship with my sister and whether I should pursue contacting a recently discovered half sister (my deceased dads love child).

CurlsandCurves · 28/01/2025 14:44

PracticalTarot · 28/01/2025 10:17

@CurlsandCurves You asked about health and family, and the card I pulled for you is the Knight of Pentacles. He normally describes a situation that has come to a temporary halt. He can indicate a rut or a period of boredom or stagnation that can be self imposed of be imposed from outside of your control. He represents a serious and steady man (although can refer to a person of either sex) who is somewhat dull and boring, stuck in their ways, unwilling to look for different ways to do things. I asked the cards what was needed to give a push, and pulled the 7 of pentacles. This indicates to me that you -or whoever you have in mind, may just be taking some time to recover and recuperate, rather than actively digging their heels in from stubbornness. The change has already begun -perhaps in small ways but it is there. I wonder perhaps if you are frustrated and eager to get going, but something or someone is holding you back. The cards say that fruition will come, but you need to exercise patience.

Thank you so much.

This absolutely describes the situation with my family member and their health. We were all worried at the time he was digging his heels in and being stubborn. But actually it turned out he knew what was right for him and is making fantastic and steady progress now.

For myself, yes I was eager to get going but I have been held back by life circumstances. Now I have been able to put things in place and get going. I will remember to exercise patience, thank you.

PracticalTarot · 28/01/2025 14:57

@Bimbabo You asked about your NC status with your parents.

I pulled 2 cards for you. The first was The World, which is the last card of the major arcana and on the face of it, is a beautiful card full of serenity and joy. But in the same way that the first card of the Tarot -The Fool, looks out into the future with a sense of anticipation, The World looks back along the twenty one preceding cards to see what has been accomplished along his journey. She has seen it all. Every mistake that could have been made, every choice, every sacrifice. So she has a decision to make. Does she start a new revolution of the world again in its old image, or will she seek to change it?

She is the last man standing, and as such, we do not know what happens after her, because only she has the knowledge of whether she will leave things as they are, or start anew.

The second card I pulled was the eight of pentacles. This is a card which says that your work is not yet finished, and that you may have a way to go until you are happy with the situation. You may be hoping for everything to be tied up with a red ribbon and a kiss on the forehead, but we all know that's rarely how it goes. You may have to settle for less than perfect, but I think the cards are saying that it may be something to try to work towards and worth the effort and heartache along the way. Good luck.

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn Your question was about health, and the card I have for you is The nine of Cups. This is known in the tarot as the 'wish' card, and in that sense, casts a sunny light on any question asked of it as it has virtually no downsides.

This card tells you that any suffering will soon be at an end, and better times are ahead. You are entering a period of fulfillment and comfort, where things just become easier to deal with. Sometimes that can be a mental change instead of a physical one, but however it presents itself, it should be welcomed with open arms.

The one warning that the ten of cups has is that it warns against allowing yourself to become complacent and undo the magical benefits the card bestows.

PracticalTarot · 28/01/2025 15:19

@TheFoz You asked about family, and like a PP today, I have pulled the 5 of Wands for you. If you are a combative family, you will recognise this set up. It represents quarrels, arguments -sometimes between the whole family and sometimes just between partners, or amongst siblings.

It's an irritable, grumpy card -the card that means that a calm serene moment is often interrupted by children arguing about nothing in particular. It is the card of grumpy, know it all teenagers explaining things to you with a lot of eye-rolling.

It is a card that asks us to sometimes just take a breath and listen. It asks us to grit our teeth and be patient. Often, we just slip into ways of behaving that are such well trodden paths that we find ourselves taking the same steps again and again without realising.
The question the card asks is -can we find a new way to be that brings some peace? Sometimes the card is just acknowledging that everything is a bit shit right now -the wands are always on the move, so the situation won't last forever -sometimes the most sensible thing to do is to remove yourself from the action altogether and have a metaphorical cup of tea -or the fabled MN spa day, perhaps!

@Dropsanddangles You're the second person to have the Death card. Your question was multilayered and it seems you have a lot going on at work right now. This card may now pertain to a situation that has just passed or you are going through right now, but it's always a big deal when Death comes riding along on his pale horse.

Death heralds an ending -in your case this could be because you are considering whether your job will end, or whether you should get a new one. You say your boss hates you. That is an awful feeling, and I'm sorry you feel this way. But one of the great things about Death, or as some decks refer to him, The Purge, or Transformation, is that he comes to us all -in the image we see a pope, a king and a pauper all standing in front of him. He treats us all equally, and as such, your boss will know what it feels like to be you very soon, because Karma can be a real bitch.

We must acknowledge Death, for while he is a sunset he is also a sunrise. He asks that we let go of old fears, old ways of being, old habits... for only by doing this can we free ourselves enough to be able to take the necessary steps into a new tomorrow.

I pulled a further card to see if it had more practical advice for you and it was the 2 of swords. Please don't feel that you need to weigh up the pros and cons too evenly -if the situation isn't working for you, don't get caught in a mind cage, just do whatever is best for your mental health.

May I have a reading on romance and career please, thanks so much

PracticalTarot · 28/01/2025 16:15

@Sparchy It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now and I sympathise. The card I pulled for you was the 5 of swords. It is not the easiest card, I will admit. In some senses, this is a card that tells us it's ok to admit defeat and walk away. You have won some victories and seen off some threats, but do you want to live feeling as though your back is up against the wall like a cornered cat?

A good thing about the suit of swords is that usually decisions, time periods and events are all over with swiftly, so wherever you are now, this too shall pass, and sooner rather than later. Whether the power is taken from your hands to be the catalyst for change, or whether you wield that power yourself is unclear.

You say that you wouldn't find the equivalent role elsewhere easily, so I pulled another card for you, which was the 7 of cups. This cards tells me that there are more options for you right now than you probably think. Have you honestly explored every avenue available to you, or are you so frozen by your immediate worries that you can't think straight?

The 7 of cups shows us that with wisdom and thought, we can make the right choice. The card shows seven cups, each containing riches -wealth, wisdom, success, security, power and transformation floating in a cloudy, dreamlike state.

But as we know, each positive has its accompanying negative -power can corrupt, success can go to our heads and so on. In the seventh, central cup, is a glowing figure covered by a shroud. To me, this represents the querant making the correct choice -it represents you once you have decided that when all is said and done, what the best outcome for you is, and worked towards it. If you are true to yourself, this card does have the power to effectively 'make your dreams come true'. So take heart!

PracticalTarot · 28/01/2025 16:28

@TravelInsuranceQ You asked about work, and if you would be in the same place in two years time. The card I pulled for you was the three of pentacles. This is a great card for questions pertaining to work as it highlights all the strengths of collaboration and teamwork, and of making plans that you can build on. It's about putting down roots and foundations professionally.

However, it isn't a passive card. It does expect you to do a fair amount of legwork. It reminds you to be the house built on rock rather than sand, if you are a Christian leaning kind. Or in everyday terms, be the little pig who built his house out of bricks. It tells us that to be prepared and willing to put in hard work now for long term gain, is the smart move.

Only you can answer if that is effort that you see being rewarded in your current workplace, but it is food for thought -is the company worth sticking with for what you will get out of it, or not?

OP posts:
PracticalTarot · 28/01/2025 16:40

@clawdy You asked if you would have a change in circumstances and your card is the 8 of pentacles.

I think the straight answer that this card gives is that there could be a change, but it won't be the sort that you're probably hoping for. This is a card of putting in the hard yard, and making gradual change rather than something happening overnight like a huge windfall or a job offer out of nowhere.

There is a reminder in the card that what it is that makes you unique is worth cherishing, and that it is the special qualities that you have that will be instrumental in bringing about change. This is the card that says that it IS worth pursuing that side hustle, or trying to turn the hobby into a business. If you like doing it, the key is to keep at it. Practise, practise, and get better. Pentacles are all about money and security, so the bottom line here is that there is money and security to be had, but it may take a little while to get to you.
