To always have a song in your head?
I wake up in the morning and I have one in my head and its constant during the day, even when I try to sleep at night.
Sometimes it's songs I've heard on the radio but sometimes it's random stuff like Christmas songs when it's not Christmas or songs from assemblies at school.
It's the norm for me but I can't imagine what it's like to have just silence, anyone do the same?

I think it's extremely common.
I have one, so does my DH and my adult DS. Not sure about my younger children though.

KangarooKenny · 16/01/2023 21:01

Me !
As soon as I wake up, even if it’s in the middle of a night for a wee, there’s a song going. At the moment it’s There Is A light That Never Gies Out.

TangledWebOfDeception · 16/01/2023 21:01

I get it a lot with random songs I hear or think about, including going round and round in my head as I sleep. But not every day, thank goodness..

MaryDerry · 16/01/2023 21:02

Oh yes. Happens several times a week. Sometimes I can sti recall the exact song when I am in shower, other times it just disappears.

TangledWebOfDeception · 16/01/2023 21:03

Also I can have the same song for weeks at a time. Very annoying.

In my case I think it’s related to inattentive ADHD.

swapcicles · 16/01/2023 21:07

Yep, all the time, although recently it's been songs from work which aren't even proper tracks 😂
( Think the stuff they play in b and m ect)

OldTinHat · 16/01/2023 21:16

Ear worms!

I have them constantly and they drive me up the wall. There is one particular song that will lodge for days on end and I made the mistake of telling a friend. He now delights in sending me YT links of different versions of it and has done for about 2yrs since I told him 😆

larchforest · 16/01/2023 21:19

Sometimes songs, sometimes it is me having imaginary conversations with people, occasionally I can't stop thinking about the plot for a book I've got going round and round in my head.

I can switch it all off though, if I want to.

Oneshoetwoshoeredshoeblushoe · 16/01/2023 21:21

Drives me mad.

Im sure I drive colleagues mad randomly belting out the same two lines every time they pop into my head too, especially as I can’t actually sing.

holyspiggot · 16/01/2023 21:22

This happens to me all the time, either songs, background music from tv programmes or just one line from a song. It does my head in!

Oneshoetwoshoeredshoeblushoe · 16/01/2023 21:23

I can even have my head on the pillow, eyes closed waiting for sleep then suddenly
”it’s alright…baby’s coming back”

Its actually getting worse as I get older and makes me panic about dementia!

Shampern · 16/01/2023 21:26

So so irritating. I try to sing over it but it keeps coming to the fore.

Tilllly · 16/01/2023 21:29

No

I feel I'm missing out

BigBangSmallBang · 16/01/2023 21:32

Not all the time but the other day I had an ear worm I couldn’t place. Till I got home and the washing machine finished, yes it was the “the washing is done” tune.

PizzaNinja · 16/01/2023 21:32

Yeah, friggin constantly. I left the flat with a Spice Girls track playing in my head (zig-a-zig-ah!) thanks to Heart 90s radio … only to find that by the time I got to work it’d somehow morphed in to Nellie the Elephant (!) 🤷‍♀️

WordtoYoMumma · 16/01/2023 21:44

When I wake in the night there is a song that goes round and round in my head, I think it is always the same, but I can never remember it come morning. I always think I should write it down the second I wake up but I can never be bothered and by the time I'm awake enough to do it, the song has vanished.

But yeh during the day I have a fucking juke box on up there all the time. Sometimes it's just phrases stuck in there and every now and then I have to say it out loud, like a sort of compulsion.

The other day I had lines from Friends on a loop in my brain. "No I don't want you to buy me a hat, it's a metaphor Daddy!"

It can all get a bit intrusive at times!

purpledalmation · 16/01/2023 21:50

I've got 'you make me feel, I'm living in a teenage dream'. Not every minute of the day though

Joytotheworld88 · 16/01/2023 21:53

Yep. At the minute it's the family guy theme tune. Over and over.

Whosmadnow · 16/01/2023 21:57

I've had an earworm for three weeks now. Its just one line over and over, I can't find the song its from and can't sing it to anyone as I'm tone deaf. If anyone can offer suggestions I'd be grateful. The line is 'You know that I will love you 'til I die' Its a ballad and a really sweet tune. Its driving me crazy.

Lorddenning1 · 16/01/2023 22:01

@TangledWebOfDeception it's weird how you have said that as my 6 year old is going for his ADHD assessment next week and they say it's genetic. Food for thought.

@larchforest I do fake arguments in my head too, it's like my brain never gets a rest.

Lorddenning1 · 16/01/2023 22:03

@PizzaNinja Nellie the Elephant features in my head playlist too.

Rockingcloggs · 16/01/2023 22:03

I have 'how will I know' in my head every single day for hours and I have done for about 20 years. It baffles me because I hate the song.

Lorddenning1 · 16/01/2023 22:04

@WordtoYoMumma haha this made me laugh because I do this too, I have the same like over and over, normally from friends too, and sometimes films too.

Everydaywheniwakeup · 16/01/2023 22:04

I like it when it's songs as otherwise I have a constant monologue in my head. Or reliving past embarrassments, that's a big one. My head never fucking shuts up.
