Real life Paranormal experiences
Rosieposy89 · 31/08/2020 15:19
Spooky season is nearly upon us so lets get a new thread going of real life paranormal experiences!
I'll start with one that happened to my parents. My great aunt died in 1999. Prior to her death she gave my dad an old family clock that you wind up - it was originally a wedding present for my great grandparents. I had chronic insomnia as a child and couldn't stand ot chiming. So my parents let it go flat and stored it on the top of their wardrobe and it stayed silent for many years.
Anyway, on the night my great auntie died, mum and dad were lying in bed and it started chiming on its own from the top of the wardrobe. My parents are very non woo and cannot explain it.

Oh I've loads... most I've told on MN over the years
My husband years ago was driving in daylight through a. Busy town. Sort of stop start crawling traffic in rush hour.
He was stopped and a guy stood next to the car and waved in..bent down to say Hi as the windows were open.
My husband's first thought was oh it's " mike " I used to work with.. Not seen him for years .
He waved and drove off as the traffic moved and he remembered why..he had died a couple of years before.

I used to work in an open plan office, I was working late and everyone had gone home. I was preparing loads of paperwork so was sat behind my desk in an alcove with all my stuff spread out. The lights were montion sensored. I heard someone shout my name, clear as day, the lights didn't come on and when I wandered about there was nobody there. It was really freaky.

I was once sitting at the breakfast table in my parent's house on my own, no one else in the house as everyone was at work and school. It was broad daylight and I heard something run and crash down the stairs, the front door was at the bottom of said stairs but I didn't hear it open. I went around the house to check if there was signs of someone having been in but I found nothing. So weird.
Also every night when I was a child a tall blacked out figure of a man used to stand by my bed every night. Same position, same figure. Once we moved I never saw it again.

When dd was a baby i nipped to the loo another room for a second and while there heard her start to cry. I rushed back and saw a figure of a woman leaning over her as if trying to comfort her.

I am really not a woo person but this happened to me...
Staying in a really old cottage on holiday years ago with boyfriend’s family. Heard someone wandering around every night, assumed his mum. It wasn’t. Went out for the day, came back and all the drawers in our room were open and rifled through, hadn’t been broken into. Woke up one night and felt as if someone was sitting on end of bed. Then one morning i woke at dawn. House was really quiet and then I heard a really horrible laugh. Ugh.
The whole place had a horrible atmosphere. Was a few hundred years old. CouldN’t wait to leave.

I love this but Workerbee80 omg that's so scary!
I've had some weird stuff happen
When I was about 16 I was revising alone in the house. I had my door open and I heard the key in the lock, my dad walked in the house, we had a conversation as he shouted upstairs and I said a few things.
It was a dialogue.
It went quiet
Didn't think about it again
Until 10 mins later my dad came home and the exact same conversation happened.
My mum and I are psychic. The family laugh at us so we only tell each other.

My late gran has a similar one as up thread . Just after the war She worked on a stall with her friend . On a very busy day she spotted a man she knew in the crowd . She told her friend and they both waved he waved back . Seconds later they realised he'd died previously and he'd gone .

My parents bought a house when i was about 2. My brother who was a newborn at the time just wouldnt sleep well there. He had night terrors every night, so my parents decided to swap our rooms.
We later found out that a man has been killed in that house in my room
My parents told me they first heard about it when i was 7 or so. They told me after i moved out.
I never noticed anything, but my brother must have felt something, because he slept peacefully from the they we swapped rooms.

Can anyone tell me if they have heard of this as google has defeated us.
My DP heard this story a few years ago and I have heard similar but cannot find anything online.
A woman sets out to drive a journey that would usually take her 90 minutes yet she arrives at her destination to find only 30 mins has elapsed. Has no idea what has happened.

Something very similar happened when I was a teenager too. I was home alone and my parents and siblings had gone out for the day. Late afternoon, when the were due back, I heard the car draw up, the front door open (it was a large Victorian door so had a distinct sound) and them all coming in chatting. I ran downstairs to greet them but they weren’t there. It was so weird. About 5 minutes later, they did arrive and it was the exact scenario, the same sounds I had heard. I’ve had several strange experiences, mainly in my old childhood home years ago.

My grans fave clock stopped at the time she died. It did it again on the anniversary of her death.
Seems to be quite a common woo thing for clocks to do that.

Years ago I lived in an old house. I kept hearing something like footsteps and light banging or shuffling around in the entry but not at my door it seemed to come from a wall. I kept worrying someone had come into my house but when I looked my door was bolted shut. After a few years I did a complete renovation of the downstairs and the builders called me in one day to look at what they had found. When they started to knock through that wall they found a door and two large windows that had simply been plaster boarded over on the inside and bricked over on the outside. The old door and windows were perfectly preserved inside. It was so weird someone for whatever reason had just covered the house entrance and created a new entrance on the other side. I had no idea it had been there or when it was covered up or why but I wonder if what I was hearing was a previous homeowner coming and going through the old door.

When I was 16 I was walking side by side with my friend along a canal path. It was daylight. The path was straight for about 1/4 of a mile in front and behind us and there was no one else on the path either in front of us or behind us and no where at that spot where you could join the path.
As we talked I was playing with a loose ring on my finger. It fell off my finger and dropped onto the floor slightly behind us in between us. We both looked behind us for a second or two as I picked up my ring. As soon as I looked back in front of us we both jumped. There was a man standing right in front of us.
He looked very pale with dark eyes. He didn't speak and just glared at us. he was wearing a pork pie type hat. I said "Sorry" and stepped behind my friend so he could pass. My friend and I both said to each other "Where the hell did he come from?" and turned around immediately. He was nowhere to be seen! and there was no where he could have left the path.

When I was at school there was a lad called Gary in my class. when we got to about 17 he moved to another school and i never saw him again.
We weren't particularly friends and I never really thought about him again.
FF about 17 years and one night out of the blue I had a dream with him in it. I have to say that I rarely dream and this one was very vivid.
I told my wife about it when I woke up.
Two hours later i was at a sports centre to pick up some kayaks i was using and to my utter surprise there was Gary playing football with some kids, he was with a dads and lads church group. I was so spooked that i never went over and spoke to him but it was definitely him.
Coincidence or precognition? Either way i was gobsmacked

When I was about five or six, I met my great gran for the first time. She didn’t live far away (20 miles or so) but she didn’t drive and nobody in the family had a car, so I’d never met her before. It was a nice summers day, I was in my Nan’s garden because my mum was working.
My Nan had some old wooden chairs probably passed down through the years. She couldnt afford garden furniture, so in the summer she would put these kitchen chairs in the garden and I would always sit on a rug on the floor.
My great gran wasn’t much of a conversationalist, as it turned out, my Nan had gone into the house and she’d been gone for quite a while - great gran just sat on a wooden chair in the corner and watched me playing on the rug, she was quite serious looking and also not really dressed for what was quite a warm day. I eventually went into the house because to me she was a stranger and she didn’t seem to want to talk to me, so it was a bit odd.
Years later, as an adult, i mentioned her to my mum because we were looking at family photos. Specifically we were looking at a photo of her dad, and I could see the family resemblance from the time I’d met my great gran (his mother). My mum was confused and said I’d never met her, I explained she visited one summer while my mum was working.
You can work out the rest. She had died years before I supposedly met her. She had been wearing a long grey skirt and white blouse, totally unsuited to the summer weather. My mum said I’d described her perfectly.
I still can’t remember how I knew she was my great gran, but I definitely knew.
Bleepertybleep · 08/01/2021 00:21
countessfrog that’s amazing. Was your Great Nan sat there while your Nan was in the garden too? Or did you only see her once she had gone indoors?
iloveautumn3 · 08/01/2021 00:35
When I was 8 I was playing in my bedroom alone, we lived in a bungalow. There was a knock on the window and my grandad was stood there waving at me looking happy and well then he turned and walked off down the path.
Told my mother who said don't be silly he has been bed ridden for over 6 months and lived about 50 miles away.
It was definitely him and he died 2 days later.
CountessFrog · 08/01/2021 01:05
It’s odd you should ask that, because I’ve always asked myself the same question.
I don’t remember any dialogue between them, I don’t remember my Nan referring to her, but then how else did I know who she was. I definitely remember her being there after my Nan went into the house, because that’s when I started to feel weird that she was just silently watching me.
Bleepertybleep · 08/01/2021 14:11
CountessFrog gosh it’s hard to argue with that really. You had no previous knowledge about your great gran and didn’t know what she looked like and years down the line your mum said you’d never met her so it’s hard to come up with a rational explanation.
CountessFrog · 08/01/2021 14:31
Yes it is. It’s actually quite unsettling. If I had to describe how I felt at the moment I got up and went into the house, I think I felt ‘unsettled.’ She just watched, she didn’t speak.
