Sister in law hates me

Hi has anyone got any advise for me. My fiancé's sister in law hates me. She is married to his brother. She is very rude towards me and excludes me from conversation. She will have a conversation with my fiancé and act like I'm not even there. She is sarcastic and openly rude to me should I care. Or just carry on being me.

Avoid seeing her? That’s pretty easy now.

Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 14:58

Yes that's a good idea but it's hard when we all meet us as a family and I have to sit and act like I'm ok

She is so rude sometimes I try my best to be nice I've looked after her children I've bought lovely gifts for them at Christmas and on for birthday nothing is ever good enough I have no idea what the problem is

What has your fiance said about it?

Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:00

He agrees that he can see she is being rude. But he is still nice to her because she is his brothers wife and he doesn't want to Create tension

Is she jealous of you?

Strokethefurrywall · 24/04/2020 15:01

Why do you have to sit and act like you're ok? Stand up and say "what the fuck is your problem?"

Call her out, in public and make her explain her shit behavior! I'm Assuming you didn't run over her dog, or shit on her doorstep or something obvious...

I don't believe in bullshit like "be the bigger person" because that only results in the meek continuing to get shit on from a great height.she's not bothered about making you uncomfortable, so return the favor and call her out.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 24/04/2020 15:01

Have a direct conversation with her. Tell her how you feel and ask if there's a reason she's behaving like she is.

Morechocmorechoc · 24/04/2020 15:02

Another for just ask

yerawizadari · 24/04/2020 15:02

He doesn't want to create tension between him and them, but he's quite happy for her to be nasty to you and upset you?

He should be sticking up for you.

HollowTalk · 24/04/2020 15:04

Stop babysitting. Stop buying them things. She feels she can do whatever she wants and you'll take it.

Do you have children with your partner?

Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:05

Thing is I am white British she is Pakistani British
Our husbands are Arab and their parents hate us both because we are not Arab I work with children and the sister in law has a masters in medicine. She thinks I'm thick I think that's it's a snobbery thing because of my education.
She is not an ugly woman. However our husbands parents have a problem with her being Pakistani but like her education but they like white skin but don't like my education maybe she doesn't like that I can change my job but she she can't change nationality to please them. This is not a racist analysis it's just the only reason I can think of

Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:08

She had a good job she's attractive so the only thing I can think of that she would be jealous of is the fact think I'm a kind her and she knows she's not

OP posts:
Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:10

I wish I could just stand up and tell her what she's doing wrong and how it's making me feel but I worry that I'm opening up a can of worms for building drama in the family

OP posts:
RightOnTheEdge · 24/04/2020 15:10

Stop looking after her kids.
Stop buying gifts.
Don't marry a wimp who hasn't got your back.

Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:10

None of my side are like this with each other so I'm not used to it

OP posts:
Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:11

He has my back. He's just close to his brother he's already stopped seeing his parents to he with me. He doesn't want to loose the only family member who still wants to see him

OP posts:
Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:13

I don't look after them anymore.
She was rude to me the other day over text I asked her how she was and I got this 👍🏼 so I sent her this 👍🏼 back and that was the end of the conversation I give up

PurpleDaisies · 24/04/2020 15:14

Sending a thumbs up isn’t rude.

Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:15

It's upsetting when you are trying so hard to be included in family and one person just decides for no reason that they are going to make you feel uncomfortable. No reason at all I think it upsets me not knowing why

OP posts:
mycurtaingell · 24/04/2020 15:16

Sending a thumbs up isn't rude. I do it if I'm really busy but don't want to ignore someone.

Bluntness100 · 24/04/2020 15:16

Sending a thumbs up isn’t rude.

On a side note, I love that you put this in the unexplained...😂

Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:17

No but her response before that was I asked how are you. And her reply was fine thanks!
Noting back then I said hope to see you soon been ages since we saw you. And then she sent a thumbs up that was it. I know her and I know when she is being sarcastic. When my fiancé texts her it's kisses and how are you back ?

OP posts:
Riviera2001 · 24/04/2020 15:18

😂 I know.

OP posts:
mycurtaingell · 24/04/2020 15:18

Maybe she just doesn't like you. What do you want to happen? You can't make someone like you.
