Not the first time.
Doubt it will be the last.

Was stood in the kitchen (small galley kitchen) with DD. I had the dishwasher door fully open which takes up almost a 3rd of the floor in area so I asked her to go out. She sort of huffed and stormed out teen style, I had turned to the side to put something away and as she left the room I saw, what I thought was DS run in past her and behind me.
It all happened in a second. So I turned round and he wasn't there, I stwp around the dishwasher door and see DD closed the door behind her.

I realise DS couldn't have ran in behind me anyway because the dishwasher was open. So the person effectively ran through the metal door complete with extended rack and plates.

Then I realised further that the boy was smaller than DS is.

I've seen him before.
Obviously not everyone will believe me. Some will say its trick of the light or a hallucination. Or that I'm plain making it up.

But like I said. It happens often.

It could have been a trick of the light or a hallucination - and also might have been a ghost. Personally, I'm comfortable with accepting that people have experiences that lie outside consensual reality. I accept mystery. I also accept that many do not, and don't try to persuade them to change their minds. If you believe you've seen a ghost, fine - as long as you accept that some will consider you mistaken or even crazy! Grin

minesagin37 · 08/01/2020 23:49

Who do you think he is. Is he from this era?

Gammeldragz · 08/01/2020 23:50

Could it have been some kind of echo/time slip?

WhichWayToBoston · 08/01/2020 23:55

I've seen him a few times running into rooms or passed my door when I'm in bed.

I honestly don't know. He's just like a kid shaped blur.

I've seen him one time that made me scared and that's when I went for a nap in the day when I was home alone and I woke to his silhouette stood at the doorway and my brain sort of went' 'DS is stood there' then a second later I realised he was not in the house and I jumped up and screamed and he was gone.

I actually apologised out loud for screaming and told him he scared me and asked him to please not stand in the doorway Blush

Fully accept that one could have been an incident of sleep paralysis but didn't feel like it, I've experienced it before.

I believe you as I have two ghosts in my house! It's not at all scarey although prior to living here the idea terrified me!
I live in a 17th century cottage but they're not of that era.
One is a black cat that wanders in and out of my spare room, the other is a man that walks past me in my garden and also across my upstairs landing.
Although it's an old house it's very solid and doesn't have creaky floor boards or pipes, in fact my OH sometimes scares the life out of me as he just suddenly appears and I don't hear him coming Grin

WhichWayToBoston · 08/01/2020 23:58

Yes it's not scary. I often am shocked at how calm I am when it happens because I think I would be scared (apart from the door way incident).

I also saw a little girl in my bedroom as a child. Again I wasn't scared. It was sort of a factual feeling of 'huh. That was odd'

WhichWayToBoston · 09/01/2020 00:00

Cherry, yes the landing thing I get.

The time lapse thing is interesting. It could be just a moment in time replaying itself over our time line. Something people don't usually see or times that aren't supposed to mix.

We really don't understand time fully do we?

I have had several similar experiences starting in childhood and I am 50 now. I try and think of it as something I am fortunate to have experienced and never try to explain it because I can't. My Dad has had the same.

Rhubarbisevil · 09/01/2020 00:02

I used to live in a 200 year old house and thought I saw a ghost in the kitchen. Then I realised it was a bird flying across the window and causing a moving black shadow.

WhichWayToBoston · 09/01/2020 00:04

Same Formidable. I've never had a negative experience. Never had a bad feeling or anything.

I never used to believe things like this until it happened to me a few years ago. Never seen anything like it since but it was very real. A woman walked past my kitchen doorway towards the front door at 3am whilst I was making tea. Thought it was DPs mum at first as she may have heard someone downstairs but as I came out no one was there.

Was scared at the time but don't think I would be if it happened again

cherrytree63 · 09/01/2020 00:08

I've seen my late husband twice, at a distance. And often smell his tobacco smoke (he smoked a very distinct Cherry Sobranie, and actually gave up the day our first child was born).
I "sensed" something evil at work once, waiting for the lift when I heard the doors to the lobby open, turned to see who was coming out but no-one was there, but I felt something pass behind me and then the opposite doors opened and all the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

avamiah · 09/01/2020 00:12

I believe you.
My dad passed away in 2000 and my husband in 2012 and I used to go to mediums many years ago ( I know it sounds ridiculous) In the hope of something maybe a sign or something .lol
But it never happened but maybe one day.

cherrytree63 · 09/01/2020 00:13

Also, and I know that dogs have very keen ears, if my little dog is in the front room sometimes his ears prick up and he stares at the door and then his head turns as though he's watching something walk across the room.
Yet none of the dogs, if they're in the back of the house, hear the door knocker or when we come home as the walls are so thick.

SnowBlind · 09/01/2020 00:18

I believe you, I've had multiple experiences, not where I live now but in past residences. Also in places where I've worked, it doesn't scare me either. Plenty of posters will be along to tell you otherwise.

www.google.com/amp/s/www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/news/local-news/north-lincolnshire-pub-haunted-ghost-1017228.amp

Hopefully the link will work, this is 5 minutes down the road from me.
There's rumours that KC also owned a house opposite mine and there was an underground tunnel linking the two which he used to visit one of his lady friends in NY house!

HoneysuckleSpeck · 09/01/2020 00:19

There is no evidence that ghosts exist therefore you can’t use ghosts to explain what you experienced.

TheFormidableMrsC · 09/01/2020 00:23

HoneysuckleSpeck I hate comments like yours, so patronising of people's experiences.

YappityYapYap · 09/01/2020 00:29

I've never seen a ghost myself but my sister is adamant that she saw our grandma washing her face in our upstairs bathroom sink when she got up for a pee in the night when we were younger. She came through and woke me up and she told me with such conviction that I 100% believed her and still do 20 odd years later. She likes her sleep, always has and there's no way she would stay awake longer than she needed to in order to wake me up for a prank.

I only know of a few people that have said they have seen something or seen a ghost and I find it hard to disbelieve them. They saw what they saw. Are ghosts real? I don't know but I believe they saw what they did. Is it possible that certain people pick up a sixth sense?

avamiah · 09/01/2020 00:34

TheFormidableMrsC,
Yes I totally agree with you.

avamiah · 09/01/2020 00:38

HoneysuckleSpeck,
Why are you even on this post ?
How do you know ghosts don’t exist ??
You sound like a idiot .

Rosehip345 · 09/01/2020 00:42

I believe you but it’s easy to not believe yourself. Twice I saw the same girl at my mums when I was younger, clear as day. Still doubt it to myself now but I know what I saw, and the second time I was with friends who saw too. Completely unthreatening, just there. Weird 🤷‍♀️

theflushedzebra · 09/01/2020 00:59

i've had a similar experience, and written about it before on here.

Decorating DS2's bedroom, he was about 4, and just down at the bottom of the stairs in the playroom, DS1 at school, baby DD on her nap.

Had all th furniture pulled into the middle of the room, and was painting a wall, when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a child steal into the room, between the wall and the pulled out bed. I said "oh no darling, don't come in, you'll get paint on you" and I heard DS2's (faraway) voice say "I'm not, I'm down here" - I whirled around and nothing there of course.

It is such a strange experience. I mean of course it could be the brain playing tricks - but why then? The only thing I was thinking about was my painting the wall - broad daylight - middle of the day! No spookiness at all!

crustycrab · 09/01/2020 01:01

Probably on it as it's appearing in active threads. Spooky

DontCallMeShitley · 09/01/2020 01:15

I have seen/felt/been touched by a few over the years. Mostly strangers.

One when I was very upset one night and felt someone stroke my brow. I was alone but I said please do that again, and they did. I felt calm and went to sleep. Found out the next morning that my friend had died at the same time.

More recently, I peeped in on my cat to say goodnight and saw him walk away from the drinking fountain and cross the room into a pile of packing boxes, which was when I realised he was actually asleep on his chair on the other side of the room. He died not long after.

I used to see a cat asleep under the washing whirly thing in the garden, but there was no cat there, it would also run in front of me in the house. It was not my cat and it would vanish into the wall.

I have seen my mother sitting in the armchair where she sat when she stayed with me. However she had died some time before. I was not pleased to see her.

I shared a home with an old soldier in uniform, he liked to be near the bookcase. A man who would stand on the steps when I put the rubbish out.

I don't mind but I do open the window and light a candle so they can be on their way if they want to.
