He’s got 24 gold medals. Not retired but not selected. What’s going on?

This thread is fascinating! Do we know what the allegations are?

Darkmeister · 02/09/2024 18:13

This thread is comedy gold I love it

Safeguarding allegations investigated by statutory bodies and unconnected to animal welfare or Olympic selection doesn't sound good does it? People are inevitably going to read right into that without taking in the part that says there will be no criminal prosecution.

MyZippyPoet · 02/09/2024 20:30

No, the arrest was never going to be connected directly to the planning issues. The relevance of the planning meeting - which I hoped I'd made clear earlier - is that it points to you the lady who reported him for the "safeguarding" issues. Petty amazing that British Dressage has published such a frank statement - especially as he ahs not been charged.

Mistycactus · 02/09/2024 20:34

She put a statement on her fb yesterday to say that she had nothing to do with the allegations /arrest that he’s been suspended for.
All very complicated!

Can't say I'm surprised he looks like a slimy git

i don’t believe these are the same issues as far as I’m aware. I’m pretty sure the safeguarding issue he was arrested for didn’t come from the lady at the planning meeting.

Still judging the dressage at our little local show a few weeks ago.

TizerorFizz · 03/09/2024 00:47

British Dressage have been really slow about putting out a statement. As stated in a post above, Paralympic dressage has had a big injection of money. There’s no magic money tree and there should be honesty with the public about what the investigation is about. The public provides this money. It’s taking a long time which isn’t satisfactory either. There should be a timeframe for investigation and decision.

Spirts bodies are not just concerned with arrest and illegalities.Bringing the sport into disrepute is usually an issue too, Eg Ivan Toney placed bets on his own team to lose. Not illegal but not allowed as a Prem footballer.

They have just mentioned he's suspended on the paralyimpics there's no escaping this now

TizerorFizz · 04/09/2024 02:01

@Darkmeister It might bring the investigation to a conclusion! It’s out in public now and about time too.
