He’s got 24 gold medals. Not retired but not selected. What’s going on?

Given what happened to Charlotte Dujardin and the controversies about Rollkur and blue tongue, there’s bound to be interest and your posts have wound things up. It would have been prudent to remain quiet. I realise you’re his mum or something like that, so you want to wade in to protect him, but it’s really nor helped him at all. “Some big gun lawyer from London” - what that there big London town where the nobs live? is laughingly provincial.

Surely dudes wasn’t a typo! 😂

@IntrepidCat

obviously you don't have an iPhone.

it's not technically a typo, no, it's the fucking phones just changing words. Mine is constantly on the naughty step!!

Oh, bugger off @Riderdiva. Never has a username been more apt. 🙄🙄

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the PP's grammar or use of English.

Why are you linking him to another rider and horse welfare issues when it’s nothing to do with horse welfare.

It's pretty natural to link two top dressage riders and wonder why both are under investigation at the same time, even if the causes aren't the same. It's a pretty small world.

And I don't think you're doing Lee Pearson any favours. You're being so vociferous that you're just making people think there's definitely something for you to cover up/defend. So do calm down.

But being suspended for 18 months does seem pretty serious stuff. I wonder why this couldn't be cleared up sooner? I'm sure we will soon find out.

What is it about then? If not horse welfare?

Your posts have made me way, way more curious than i was before, so I'll have a Google tomorrow if you haven't answered by then. Well done on helping to publicize whatever is going on by having a totally off the wall rant and piquing people's interest!

INeedAnotherName · 01/09/2024 22:48

Well that post went poof very quickly, I lost my reply 😂

If it isn't horse welfare then what is it?

This thread is like Swiss cheese.

Yes, and like cheese, some of it smells a bit off.

And when you do find out he’s innocent I bet your apology online will be nowhere to be seen!!! If this is how you treat a human being that you don’t even know, for fun & entertainment then I would hate to see your horse welfare standards. Shame on you.

Innocent of what? Do tell.

Mistycactus · 01/09/2024 23:05

It’s weird how little this is being discussed on Twitter. Literally a handful of posts with 2 comments max.

What would that poster need to apologise for? Or anyone on this thread? The only one throwing accusations around is you.

Why are you so angry?

GrazingSheep · 01/09/2024 23:08

What has he allegedly done?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 01/09/2024 23:09

Well, this hoohah makes me believe he's totally innocent of the so far unspecified non horse related misconduct. Threats and insults always make me come down on the side of the person who whose friends PRteam are making them, after all.

FredaFox · 01/09/2024 23:13

I know someone who dated him but it was years ago so I have no comments to add but I met him a few times and later bumped into him in Manchester and he was always pleasant to me

Pterodacty1 · 01/09/2024 23:17

Fucking hell @ this thread

The gentleman doth protest too much, methinks

SabrinaThwaite · 01/09/2024 23:57

Who knew the world of dressage could be so murky.

Did Jilly Cooper back the wrong (show jumping) horse?

PoodlesRUs · 02/09/2024 00:06

Thanks to Riderdiva's meltdown I am fascinated. Popping open the popcorn and settling into the thread!

SabrinaThwaite · 02/09/2024 00:38

Interesting shout out to this thread on the Horse & Hound forum 🤔

Polyp0 · 02/09/2024 02:51

Wow!

TizerorFizz · 02/09/2024 03:01

@SabrinaThwaite Just had a look at that. Similar issues with freedom of speech and secrecy. Clearly concerns about litigation but it’s of genuine public concern during the para Olympics and the guy is a Sir. That doesn’t give him special powers of secrecy: or shouldn’t.

I know far more about horse racing. If a trainer or jockey is being investigated, there is always a statement to say what the grounds are. In Pearson’s case, he presumably receives money from the lottery and possibly the public purse in order to compete. Most athletes do. So where is the accountability to the Public? This is simply not acceptable,

@IntrepidCat Im afraid it was boring autocorrect. But if “dude” is what’s accurate, so be it!!!

OP posts:
SabrinaThwaite · 02/09/2024 05:45

Probably less about freedom of speech and more about forums being ultra cautious about getting dragged into libel or defamation issues.

Para dressage received an additional £250k of funding last year, via UK Sport and the National Lottery, on top of the £3 million announced in December 2021.

The moment mumsnet start deleting and editing this post they are legally responsible for the thread. Unfortunately the defamatory comments were left up long enough to be seen by many and do reputation damage.

You clearly don't understand defamation law and should not be threatening other posters I this way.
