In the absence of staff and her fabulous thread titles and witty openers here is a 67th thread. The broom cupboard is overflowing so time for another Republic. Hopefully we hear from staff soon.

Stolen from thread 66.
'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

We've got staff and students starting to test positive now. I don't think I've had complete classes for weeks.

ChloeDecker · 14/10/2021 17:50

My school today purchased our own CO2 monitors hang your heads in shame Department for Education for just the rooms where our out of control KS3 class has each of their lessons.

Caretaker came up to my room this afternoon whilst I was teaching them, to give me a monitor to use.
I kid you not the entire box of them started going off at the same time in his hands and all were in the red.
That’s shows how bad the air has been these past 20 months or so, as that was with the couple of windows that I have open as far as they will go.

SLT are going to get back to me and other colleagues on the same floor, coz who the hell knows what to do!?

JanglyBeads · 14/10/2021 17:57

Fab that yr school’s bought them, not fab they all went off, and why do the out of control class get them Chloe?

Piggywaspushed · 14/10/2021 18:01

For noble (and anyone else who like crimes against graphs)

I mean, if you were daft enough to produce a graph like that, wouldn’t you at least look at it and notice it seemed a bit odd?
Perhaps not. Where’s it from, Piggy? Please don’t say a textbook.

Piggywaspushed · 14/10/2021 18:28

I follow a Twitter page which posts crap graphs. Not sure of the source!

noblegiraffe · 14/10/2021 19:15

I want to get a Latvian woman and stand them next to an Indian woman because that graph suggests it will be amazing.

DanglingMod · 14/10/2021 20:24

Brilliant example to use for explaining why choice of scale is so important, though?!

Our school are just trying to do something to stop even more kids in that class from catching Covid in the class but it’s a bit like sieving custard.

People are pointing out that they can’t legally require this though. Who’d be a head?!

Yikes!

West Berkshire having issues with positive tests being reported to people as negative.

“After receiving reports from local residents in recent weeks that there were concerns about the accuracy of test results from the site, we passed these concerns onto the DHSC for further investigation. The DHSC has now confirmed that a number of sites nationally may have been affected by this issue, including the one at Newbury Showground.”

Also just popping in to say a belated hello to everyone. I’m absolutely shattered, my bones are literally creaking. Sorry to hear so many have been hit with covid. Wishing you all a good recovery and lots of rest.

Ds’s school has about 60 cases at the moment, lots in year 11 which is an absolute bugger with mocks coming up. They’re back to masks in communal areas which is a relief.

My school has got so many out in year 7 and year 8 that SLT are considering moving to remote learning (hopefully just for certain groups, but I only walked in on the end of the conversation so I could be wrong!) We may limp through to half term though without that, with any luck.

I’m not surprised. So many off sick at ours too.

That’s all over radio 4 this morning. Rates are sky high already. I wonder how many people have been missed?

That's us. Yaaay!

Not that anyone is really testing primary kids around here.

“So you hate Maths. I bet you enjoy History” and they would almost always reply yes.

I'm late to respond, but at my old school we found that the boys who hated Maths also seemed to excel in athletics, particularly the long jump 😁. Not sure what that was about!

The whole testing thing is a complete fiasco. Who believes anything from this government anymore Hmm.

Sorry to hear of those who are ill or who have ill children. I've taught my last lesson for half term and I feel utterly wrung out. Hoping you all have a smooth journey to half term Brew.

WhenSheWasBad · 15/10/2021 17:15

Sorry to use the C word so early in the year.

But the Booths Christmas Book is now in store. That will only mean something to people in the North.

In other news 4 of my year 10 class have Covid. So many kids off sick it’s crazy.

MrsHamlet · 15/10/2021 17:24

Praise the lord. Since it'll be another solitary solitary I may just order some of everything.

Mistressiggi · 15/10/2021 17:41

On holiday now thank the Lord, end of a 9 week term. Venturing across the border for the weekend will see how the maskless are living.

LolaSmiles · 15/10/2021 20:39

Happy half term Mistressiggi.

It's @graphcrimes on twitter. Discovered it last night.

It has my favourite ever graph which I thought I'd lost.
