You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

You can sit on chairs but keep the windows open. You don’t have to upload LFT results during the holidays. You do not have to wear mask - free choice

Oh no piggy!
Hope he's ok. Cant believe a whole year at school to then get it during holidays - this virus is crazy!
Q is how many kids have already had this twice by now.
Dd2 had diarrhoea and vomiting during isolation. But think that was too much chlorine from our pool.

You have probably just missed the opportunity to not have to isolate as a contact (aka potentially spread
it as a fully vaxxed person).
Possibly a look round parliament?

Piggywaspushed · 04/08/2021 15:16

Yup HS. Very very galling.

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/08/2021 15:34

Oh no Piggy. Hope he feels better quickly and no-one else gets it!

Appuskidu · 04/08/2021 15:58

Interesting news coming out about teen vaccines this afternoon! My 17 year old is v pleased.

JanFebAnyMonth · 04/08/2021 17:14

From BBC article on announcement today:

Prof Jonathan Van-Tam, England's deputy chief medical officer, said there were plenty of vaccines available, adding: "We have the supply and I'm expecting this to start in a very short number of weeks indeed."

"There is no time to waste in getting on with this," he said, highlighting that children will start going back to sixth forms and colleges soon. "I want us to proceed as fast as is practically possible."

Hmm.

Piggywaspushed · 04/08/2021 17:18

I'd get lynched for saying this on other boards but I cannot bear Van Tam

Monkeytennis97 · 04/08/2021 17:21

I feel the same @Piggywaspushed since he downplayed school transmission in the Winter.

Piggywaspushed · 04/08/2021 17:30

Yip. I find his manner quietly aggressive too.

DanglingMod · 04/08/2021 17:31

Yes, he used some really dismissive wording and tone re school transmission at several of the pressers.

motherrunner · 04/08/2021 17:48

Agree @Piggywaspushed. It just seems that even “the scientists” are in bed with the Gov.

DreamingofBrie · 04/08/2021 18:03

Hope your ds recovers soon piggy. Rotten luck to catch it during the holidays when you (and he!) have got through such a difficult year in such tough circumstances.

JanFebAnyMonth · 04/08/2021 19:26

Yes I went off him.

dangling I’ve PM’d you, don’t know I Fb you’ve seen?

JanFebAnyMonth · 04/08/2021 19:26

*don’t know if you’ve

Piggywaspushed · 04/08/2021 19:46

Here is next week's shitstorm in the making

www.tes.com/news/dfes-state-vs-private-schools-level-grade-gap-fears

HarrietDVane · 04/08/2021 19:54

Oh no Piggy! I hope DS isn't too poorly and makes a swift recovery.

thecatfromjapan · 04/08/2021 19:59

🙁 Hope he's through it soon, Piggy. 💐

Don't know what to say about the TES story. I think it's what we've been expecting. (I have a results-awaiting, state-educated dd.)

noblegiraffe · 04/08/2021 20:03

That explains the stories last week about wealthy parents putting pressure on schools to bump results, piggy

I wonder how MN would take a ‘children on FSM should have their grades bumped by one’ campaign.

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/08/2021 20:04

Is anyone other than the DfE surprised by that?!?! FFS. Twats. Remote learning massively increases the gap.

MsAwesomeDragon · 04/08/2021 20:07

I'm not sure how mn would react to that noble, but it would be fairer than boosting everyone's grade. Of course it would miss off the kids who don't quite qualify for FSM but don't have any money either.

MrsHamlet · 04/08/2021 20:19

I wonder how MN would take a ‘children on FSM should have their grades bumped by one’ campaign.
Apoplectically.

thecatfromjapan · 04/08/2021 20:24

Honestly, what a disgrace. 🙁

Frlrlrubert · 04/08/2021 20:52

My mum (74 and long double jabbed) has it and I've been identified as a positive contact cos I spent 5 minutes with her the day before she got symptoms, but apparently DD, who was there overnight, doesn't count because she's under 12?

I dunno, I'm going off what my mum said they said and the fact the contact tracing text only mentions me.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/08/2021 21:09

Hope your DS is ok Piggy and your mum Frlrlrubert.

I did think that about going on holiday without the kids when I wrote it Jan. I nearly deleted it.

Have you considered starting a thread with the FSM grade bumping campaign noble?

Piggywaspushed · 04/08/2021 21:38

U4T and Conservative Woman have gone into a Twitter meltdown....

noblegiraffe · 04/08/2021 21:48

Yes, I was reading an U4T thread. A bit of antisemitism, a soupçon of Great Reset, a touch of transhumanism. A lot of 'who bribed the JCVI?'
