You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Just had a message to say there is a positive lateral flow in my son's Y2 class. Everyone now isolating until pcr comes back Sad they've only been back a week since the last period of 10 days isolating Sad

It's a fairly small village primary.

I'm not too bad as DH can be home with DS but it's really not ideal.

I could scream with frustration!

Added to that, 2 members of my faculty are self isolating all this week Sad so cover galore to organise!

This term can't end soon enough!

TheHoneyBadger · 04/07/2021 13:45

That was my thought Chloe.

When I started at this school in the science department I couldn't plan or prepare over the summer at all because the HOD had blocked all access to the shared drive in case teachers who were leaving tried to take anything Hmm

JanFebAnyMonth · 04/07/2021 15:46

Oh right piggy. So if that’s an alternative why doesn’t the DfE force every school to do that instead of closing (depending on the results, I suppose)?

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2021 15:49

Yo yo yo!

It’s all gone a bit serious and worky in here…what happened to all the Gove/Gav chat?

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2021 15:54

Incidentally, here’s an interesting graph, it explains why it feels like December in schools. Looks like good news though.

Did you have ‘fun’ on your now full thread noble?!

I’m shouting at the ration every time I hear about Robert Jenrick / any Other minister explaining that we’ll all have to take personal decisions on mask wearing etc!

😡
That might be acceptable if the decisions we‘ll be taking only affected us. Or even primarily us.

JanFebAnyMonth · 04/07/2021 16:03

*radio not rations

JanFebAnyMonth · 04/07/2021 16:07

Scotland are saying masks will continue is shops etc. Which will be a bit of a blow to Jenrick who wanted the whole Union to move together. Here’s an idea, let’s follow Scotland’s lead, pillock!

Can you tell I’m cross?

Iamnotthe1 · 04/07/2021 16:20

We do tend to follow Scotland's lead just with a two week to one month time delay.

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2021 16:27

Oh on that thread I found out apparently I have mental health issues, Jan, everyone v concerned. :( Why are you lot not v concerned and being nice to me instead of calling me nob? Grin

JanFebAnyMonth · 04/07/2021 17:18

Haha nob(le)

TheHoneyBadger · 04/07/2021 17:34

Seem pretty sane to me Noble. Not sure I'm a good person to judge though Confused

How come you lot have been posting all afternoon? I got a message saying the server was down. Was concerned I'd been suspended again for a bit!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/07/2021 17:42

Did I miss noble starting a thread?

Have to admit this morning went -
Wake up, check news, see masks are going to be a personal choice according to a minister. Check which minister. Oh.

Do you think they’ll stop doing this every Sunday soon? Maybe just switch it down to once a month.

Appuskidu · 04/07/2021 17:46

Why does the housing minister need to dispense hints for the future on mask wearing?! Shouldn’t he stick to houses?

U OK, hun? Grin.

Started, bunfight, deletions, filled up at 1000 again (despite, apparently, no one ever wanting to engage with nob's allegedly aggressive and provocative threads where she shouts everyone down, gets deleted for swearing and tells everyone she's right and they're wrong.

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2021 17:47

It was down for a bit for me too, Ange, I got the Big Shop done.

Rafa www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/a4283893-Anti-lockdowners-pretending-to-care-about-kids-again you didn't miss much!

DreamingofBrie · 04/07/2021 17:49

I have just made my first batch of 2021 strawberry jam. Last year all the local PYOs were closed but they had strawberries to sell so I ended up buying them. This first batch is just bought from the greengrocer. PYO is advance ticketing this year - dd and ds have agreed to come picking with me later this week Smile.

But Scotland has significantly higher case rates than RUK so something odd is going on there...
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/07/2021 18:05

Ah, I did see that one. I thought you’d managed to start and finish a new one I hadn’t seen.

Just 4 days to go until I see my mum. Really bad time for the primary school bubbles of the people I work closely with to start popping. And I feel really bad that a slight part of me is hoping they can’t find childcare for the next 2 days. After that I don’t care what they do.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/07/2021 18:07

Mmm. Brie. Jam making. That’s a tempting idea.

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2021 18:10

Blimey Rafa there’s only so much shouting, swearing and telling people they’re wrong that I can do in one weekend.

DreamingofBrie · 04/07/2021 18:12

Got 3 lessons to prep for tomorrow. I was doing frequency trees last week and the Corbett Maths example included entries to a talent show. I've promised the class I'll show them Susan Boyle's BGT audition tomorrow as a piece of real heart-warming telly and a fine example about not judging a book by their cover Grin.
