You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

(Which I wouldn’t be able to join in with, obviously. A shame as I am a singer 🎶)

Speaking of people not seen for a while (unless in disguise), I was trying to remember the name of our SN colleague and wondering how things were for her these days. It was Trashed wasn’t it - who I think I saw (under her later partial NC) on Data the other day?

You can do the radio edit, Jan…where the BLEEP is Gav?

JanFebAnyMonth · 23/06/2021 08:57

Ah yes, good idea noble!

DanglingMod · 23/06/2021 09:46

Get "back to normal" really annoys me. We ARE completely back to normal for all the drudgery stuff plus the actual teaching.

We're not back to normal for all the nice bits: trips, clubs, visits etc.

So all the risk for less reward.

What is now our upper school has just 'burst'! Students being sent home now

Chaos!

Head is talking about put the whole school onto remote learning. Bloody track and trace app flashing up warnings around the school

@Piggywaspushed

Oh just seen it on BBC website - it was Rosemary Leonard. Never liked her much.

When GPs get back to work themselves seeing all of us face to face, then I might pay attention.

Yep - GPs are very precious. That is why it is bloody chaos in A&E.

Chaos is going to be my word of the day.

Gav at the Ed Select committee talking about potential changes to pupil premium among other things twitter.com/schoolsweek/status/1407624642467188747?s=21

He also says that there are winter plans for schools which he hopes he will never have to open....can we have them too please Gav, you know, just in case?

Yep. As someone who started working in schools this year (I previously worked with schools but from an office and not attached to any one school) I haven't gotten to do any of those fun things. When I was hired SLT wanted me to do all sorts of things with the kids as I could have helped if there were an art or drama club etc but none of that has been allowed to happen.

Been reading the thread @noblegiraffe posted. Gav back on again about secondary schools finishing at 2.45.

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2021 12:08

And yet, Teacher Tapp (which they use when it suits them) found that very few secondary schools finish before 3 in reality.

motherrunner · 23/06/2021 12:10

Out of all the comments Gav has made, the DM has written an article on the ‘2.45 crackdown’.

My last school finished at 3. My current school finishes at 3.40.

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2021 12:15

Gav has literally no data on school times. He said as much to the committee.

Wonder what time his kids school closes? Is he literally basing his belief on them? Maybe his DDs whinge at him about their short lunch break.

StaffRepFeistyClub · 23/06/2021 12:19

order order the proceeding has ended.

I think Gav got off lightly

The next big thing - no isolations of school pupils.

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2021 13:03

Well, the easiest solution to not isolating is to remote teach them all . Elephant in the room...

ChloeDecker · 23/06/2021 13:05

And if course, it is also relevant to note that if a school finishes at 3pm or before, it has often started earlier in the morning.

JanFebAnyMonth · 23/06/2021 13:35

U4T quoted in that article.....

noblegiraffe · 23/06/2021 13:43

Yes, Jan. I noticed that they were talking about all the parents complaining about cancelled sports days on social media. I can't help but think that most of the threads on MN about it were started by them because they had an awfully familiar tone.

So we got told about next year’s ‘exam adjustments’?

motherrunner · 23/06/2021 14:52

*will we

We have our own special one of those

Medra · 23/06/2021 15:19

@motherrunner our ofqual consultation thought January 2022 would be a good time to let us know (MFL) I expressed my thoughts about that very clearly.

Piggywaspushed · 23/06/2021 15:46

BBC seems to be doing massive extrapolation there
